New Motion Pictures on the Calendar
A Big Hello from Long Island!!
I woke up this morning and the wind had died down. Boy, was it gusting the past two days. Lots of branches down around my neighborhood. Thankfully, no major damage or power outages. In any case, I am having a great beginning of the week. Yesterday, I was hanging with my girls after school - we ate a delicious vegan meal of spaghetti with mushrooms, onions and spinach - yum. We did dinner and a movie and watched Monster In-Law, which the girls had not seen and they definitely enjoyed it.
Speaking of movies, we have our next few months planned out for us when it comes to the latest Marvel, Disney and other movies coming out:
March
April
May
June
July
November
Of course, we'll be taking full advantage of AMC's $5 Tuesdays to see all of the above, as going to the movies can be quite expensive these days!! In other news, I'm getting more and more excited about my upcoming In-store travel event at Vera Bradley this coming Saturday afternoon! Please forward this email to anyone that you think might be interested in attending!!! There will be lots of great deals on travel and Vera Bradley products!!
Well guys, I'm headed out to get some promotional materials together for my Vera Bradley event!

Lake Tahoe - Day 5 - Warnings
Hiya guys.
I'm coming at you from up here in Tahoe, having a great time but I'm starting to have mini flashbacks of our trip here back in 2017, when we were snowed in because of the blizzard conditions. Even the ski resorts were snowed in and closed because they had to dig the lifts out! LOL January 6, 2017 - Tanya's Annual Ski Trip to Lake Tahoe: Day 1 January 7, 2017 - Tanya's Annual Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 2 January 8, 2017 - Tanya's Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 3 January 9, 2017 - Tanya's Annual Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 4 January 10, 2017 - Tanya's Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 5 January 11, 2017 - Tanya's Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 6 January 12, 2017 - Tanya's Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 7 January 13, 2017 - Tanya's Trip to Lake Tahoe - Day 8 Well that was a trip to go down in the memory books. While although it is and has been snowing here since yesterday, these are not blizzard conditions and the resorts are still open. HOWEVER as you know we had taken yesterday off as a rest day. Hanging out, playing board games, munching on yummy snacks, watching the snowfall, watching a movie and going to bed early (for us - it was almost midnight), with plans of heading out early this morning and heading to the slopes. We played the board game Mountains of Madness.
It was our first time attempting to play this game, it is played as a team and happened to be rather lengthy. I'm not even 100% sure that we played correctly - it was one of those games that the instructions are rather complicated and might take some time to fully understand what we are doing.
After dinner we then opted to watch Bad Times at the El Royale in which “Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell.” Starring Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth.
Bad Times at the El Royale is a 2018 American neo-noir thriller film. Loosely based on some of the sordid history associated with the Cal Neva and its location straddling the state line of California and Nevada. I happen to ride past the currently closed Cal Neva Hotel each time that we come up for either America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride and/or the Tour de Tahoe. Also being that it was set up here in Tahoe, it seemed quite fitting to watch it up here.
After the movie we had hit the sack, though right before going to bed I decided to check on the ever changing weather and had noticed that a certain WARNING had been extended.
You might be wondering what WARNING?! And why it is keeping me off of the slopes. Well it is an AVALANCHE WARNING and our family motto is "SAFETY FIRST".
So although the resorts are open and they do avalanche control there is the issue of getting to the resort and the warning states: HIGH AVALANCHE DANGER EXISTS IN THE MOUNTAINS. * REASON/IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW AND GALE FORCE WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS. EXPECT A MIX OF WIND SLAB AND STORM SLAB AVALANCHE PROBLEMS AFFECTING ALL ELEVATIONS. NATURAL AVALANCHES AND HUMAN-TRIGGERED AVALANCHES ARE EXPECTED. SOME AVALANCHES MAY BE LARGE AND DESTRUCTIVE. * PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...TRAVEL IN, NEAR, OR BELOW AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED. The summits are getting 55mph+ gusts and overall this just does not sound like a good idea for us to go out there. Instead we are going to a nearby sledding hill that is not in the back country and is on the lake side vs the mountain side. Depending on the road conditions we might also head to one of the beaches to go for a stroll and to snap some pics. That's the scoop. We'll see how things go tomorrow. I'm outta here, -Travelin' Tanya |
