BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
Re-Cap of Animal KingdomGREETINGS FROM DISNEY WORLD!! Well, it's our last day here and we are taking it easy. We slept in and are headed out to Disney Springs today. We'll walk around, do some shopping, pick up a few souvenirs and, of course, EAT!. Now - let's talk about our day yesterday at Disney's Animal Kingdom!!!
It was a relatively early day for us, as we had fast passes first thing for Expedition Everest. Off we went to catch the bus with very cloudy skies above.
By the time we arrived at Animal Kingdom (which, by the way, is a lengthy bus ride from the Saratoga Springs), the rain was coming down. We got a bit soaked running from the bus drop off, into the park, until we reached cover at one of the shops. Thankfully, they were selling rain ponchos and while me and Kelsey excitedly grabbed them, Gianna opted out as she proclaimed "it doesn't go with my look."
We walked through the park, heading to Asia, for Expedition Everest. The ground was wet and the rain had let up slightly to a drizzle, but it was a cool vibe for this park.
Following the ride, we headed on back to Africa, where we went to check out the line for Kilimanjaro Safari, for which we did not have fast passes. By this time, the sun was out with a lovely blue sky.
The wait time was over an hour, which would conflict with our lunch reservation at Yak & Yeti (in Asia), so we decided to walk around, shop and take some pictures.
We walked back to Asia for a most delicious lunch!
Yak & Yeti has many vegan options and Gianna and I tried two of these - the Vegan Korean Roasted Cauliflower and the Vegetable Lo Mein. The Cauliflower was very spicy, so beware, if you plan to order it - but it was delicious - with a side of quinoa. And of course, our absolute fave from this restaurant, for which we've been to many times - Wok Fried Green Beans!!
The Mango pie was to die for!!! it was so yummy - we anticipated a more tart taste, but it was mild and creamy and rich. (Not vegan).
Once our tanks were full, we made our way back to Africa, where Gianna wanted to get a temporary Henna. She picked out a cute turtle design and Kelsey and I sat nearby watching and taking in the musical entertainment.
We never made it on the Safari, but we have been on it so many times in the past. Instead, we headed back to Expedition Everest and went on once more.
As we were leaving the park, we caught a glimpse of some cute water foul nearby the exit. Of course, I snapped away at the pretty birds and the setting.
Our gang picked up a few quick service meals at The Artist Palette at our (Saratoga Springs) resort and called it a night in our suite.
We decided to have a few laughs and watched Best in Show while eating. Kelsey and I had both seen the movie before, but it was Gianna's first time.
Well, we are off to Disney Springs for our last full day. Tomorrow we depart very early for an 8:30AM flight.
Happy Friday! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
Tanya heads to Lake Tahoe and recaps Birthday FUN
Greetings from our road trip to Lake Tahoe!
Today happens to be an extra special day here on Travelin' Cousins. How often is it that both Elisa and I are both on vacation on the same day?! Not often whatsoever!! Well we've got about 8+ hours ahead of us here on our end of the travel spectrum and although the original plan was for us to leave at 5am this morning that was all changed and adjusted as of last night... Speaking of yesterday and last night - Yesterday happened to be one of the COLDEST days in SoCal, actually the month of February has been the coldest February in recorded history! And it just so happened to be my little sissy poos birthday!
It rained. It poured. It had even snowed!
Which is all beyond strange for around here and now being on the road we are seeing a dusting of snow all around us and in all directions that are usually pretty nondescript (my nice was of saying ugly imo) and generally all rather brown. My guess is that this is going to be a very pretty drive. Maybe even the prettiest drive up to Tahoe ever!! I'm getting all sorts of side tracked. Back to Brigitte's birthday. Some of the gang went to go and play a round of mini-golf - they froze and got soaked. We however were not back in time, so we met them back at the house and then all headed out for a big family dinner at the local Chinese restaurant - Sinofusion. It was Brigitte, Houston, Jet, Andrew, Chaplin, Michael, Violet, Mika, my mom, Dave B., Dominic, Cosette, Skip, Khanny and me.
The evening was full of laughs, good times and good food.
Skip and Khanny had shared stories of their recent trip to Vietnam and had turned to us and asked when we plan of visiting Vietnam. I suggested that if I make that trip it would be preferred to go along with them - who plan on going again next Feb. (2020). Hmm...definitely something for me to think about.
After dinner it was time to head home for cake and presents.
So after all of the festivities and one very tired Dave, I had a feeling that he wasn't going to be a very chipper and happy fellow if I insisted on us leaving at 5am.
We discussed that the only reason that I really wanted to leave at 5am was for us to take the Interstate 5. So instead we are taking the much more scenic route (395) and one that we don't have to drive through Los Angeles for - you cannot leave any later than 5a, in order to get out of LA without being delayed hours due to massive traffic. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna continue to enjoy the drive, the music and the views and I'll get back with you guys tomorrow from Lake Tahoe! Ciao 4 Now, -Travelin' Tanya |
