Elisa's Daily ScoopUniversal Studios in the cold!Hiya!! Can you believe it's Friday already???? Wow did this week go fast!  Lego Dragon in Downtown Disney Today we are headed to Universal Studios. There are some pros and cons to our day. First the Pros: > It's the first time for all of us to Universal Orlando so it should be fun! > It's a sunny day > We have the car, so it will be nice to have some flexibility rather than be at the mercy of the bus schedule like we've been all week here in Disney. The Cons are: > It's going to be a low of 30 degrees and a high of 50 degrees - pretty cold. > We only have one day in the park, so we will probably have to be very selective about what we do. I'm thinking we confine ourselves to two parks: "Universal Studios Orlando" and "Islands of Adventure." I will give you the low down on what we managed to hit tomorrow!!  (courtesy Orlandovacations) Yesterday was a very mello day. I spent an hour and a half in the fitness center and got a rigorous work-out!! (I'm a little sore today!). Then we made our way over to Downtown Disney. Because we had opted to change our schedule and visit Universal Studios today instead of Tuesday, my dinner reservation schedule got messed up.
I had a reservation at "Paradise 37" in Downtown Disney for tonight, but I cancelled it since we were not going to be in that area. As a result, we did NOT have a dinner reservation last night, nor could I secure one in Downtown Disney. I figured we'd do a counter service dinner, but those restaurants too were packed to the gills with extremely long lines. (UGH!) After some shopping, which included a visit to the Lego(r) store (and a purchase for each of the kids), we just opted to go back to the Saratoga Springs and have dinner at the resort restaurant, The Turf Club Bar & Grill. It was certainly more civilized and we were right across from our villa when dinner was over! Yup, it's Foodie Friday and it's my turn this week to share with you an eatery that has really stood out! This week I'm focusing on a restaurant with (IMO) not such a great name 'Doomies' but with some really surprisingly unique and quite yummy comfort foods - including something that's on the secret menu (yup they have a secret menu) called a DINOSAUR EGG! Click HERE for FOODIE FRIDAY To tell you the truth, although it's Foodie Friday, for us here in my household it has been an entire Foodie Week! We celebrated Fat Tuesday, and last night I made a few Chinese dishes in celebration of the Chinese New Year! I was so glad that everyone was quite happy with the turn out of these special meals. They requested that they don't only get to eat them once a year; They walked (waddled) away from the table quite stuffed; And I even got a hug in appreciation of making some of these dishes!
The Foodie week, isn't about to end quite yet... Tonight, Dave, the kids and I are going to Seabirds Kitchen for dinner (I'm taking a break from the kitchen), we're pretty excited to head over there, as we've heard that they have Pierogies on their winter menu!! YUM And then tomorrow is Brigitte's birthday and she has jumped on the "kids" wagon of putting together a menu of whatever her heart desires and have her big sissy make it for her - so I'll be back in the kitchen! Lastly, we have Oscar Sunday - which to me is kinda like Superbowl Sunday when it comes to fun foods - so back in the kitchen I go! It's a good thing I love cooking!!  So, in addition to all of the food, I also took Cosette to her horseback riding lesson yesterday, did lots of shopping and running around, took Dominic to his night classes and even managed to squeeze in a little tea time with Dave!  This is Lola, and she came over to say "Hi"! I hope that you all have had an awesome week, and that you have an awesome weekend to look forward to!
