Elisa's Daily ScoopEnjoying SundayA big hello and welcome! Today is going to be pretty much a family day for me, both at home and out and about. Since it's Sunday and one of my traditions is to have a nice Italian meal, I started off the day by making a big pot of home-made tomato sauce and meatballs. Although I generally don't eat meatballs, everyone else in the family does and I'll be serving them with spaghetti today. Once I got the sauce on the stove to simmer for hours, I headed out with Gianna to Best Buy. She is so into Vlogging these days for her YouTube channel and her goal is to Vlog our entire Disney trip next week. So, she wanted to get a new camera - A Canon Powershot N100 digital camera, which, incidentally, she is buying with her own money! Tanya and I will be developing the Travelin' Cousins YouTube Channel in 2015, which I we are both very excited about. For my upcoming Florida trip, however, I will be posting vlogs daily on The Daily Scoop created by Gianna. This will be our first foray into posting regular videos during a trip, so we would love your feedback on what you think! Kelsey is feeling much better as well. She has been fever-free for 24 hours so I'm relieved she is on the mend with only 5 days to go before we leave for vacation. Time to head out! Enjoy your day!! -E | Tanya's Daily ScoopIf at first you don't succeed..Well guys, I came to Vail in search of some nice cold winter weather and was sorely disappointed yesterday when I was waaaay over dressed and heating up in the lift line! Can you imagine this?! Especially coming only a week after experiencing some of the coldest temperatures in my life while traveling in Quebec! It was almost like spring conditions out there and we are only in February!!! Anyhow, the day didn't quite go as planned. First off there was an additional hour worth of traffic during our drive up from Denver yesterday morning, and then once we arrived at the event parking - absolutely EVERYTHING was completely FULL. That royally sucked. So, I came up with a Plan B - instead of watching the Men's Downhill from the grandstands, we'll watch from the slopes! So we drove to the parking lot for the ski resort and yet somehow ended up coming from the opposite direction right back where we had started! Ugh, the frustration had built. Just get me on the slopes! Once we had finally parked, we had such a LONG walk from our parking spot to the shuttle bus stop, that I think my arms must've grown a few inches in length from carrying my HEAVY boot bag and skis! In addition to my slight disappointment in the morning; I found out some bad news... Bode Miller (the skier I was looking most forward to watching), had crashed during his super-G run (2 days prior), badly severing his hamstring tendon, and requiring surgery. After surgery 37 year old Bode questioned whether or not he will return back to the sport, and the highly decorated athlete is currently leaning towards retirement. It's a tough sport. After arriving at the Beaver Creek Village I quickly noticed that the atmosphere was unlike any of my other past visits in all the years of me coming and staying in Beaver Creek! The crowds were absolutely INSANE! And when there are crowds, immediately the ratio of stupid obnoxious, and annoying people goes through the roof! So it was my mission to find some peace and serenity on the mountain far away from the masses, which I can happily say that I eventually succeeded at doing. Whew! Based on the fact that I couldn't find any accurate information, for my first time visiting. And that every I read online was all WRONG! Here is a complete overview, Click here for the SPECTATORS GUIDE - along with Tips, and Suggestions for first timers to watch the FIS Alpine Ski World Championship. Okay, so today is a new day and with that a new plan for sticking with the original plan! Have I lost you yet?...I hope not! We are headed for the Grandstands of the Red Tail Finish Stadium at Beaver Creek to watch the Men's Alpine combined DH run. And then we will be shooting over to Vail Ski Resort, where we will spend the rest of the day skiing at one of my all time favorite resorts! Wishing you a Super Sunday and if you happen to be tuned into Universal Sports to watch the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships, look for me... |
