New Healthy Habit for a Flater Belly
Another beautiful day here on Long Island!
Today started like any other day, except that my Kelsey felt like she had scratched her cornea - and I know how painful this can be. So, like a trooper, she got up, got dressed and proceeded into the car to head off to school. But, the more she had her eye open, the greater the discomfort and pain. As a result, after dropping off Gianna at her school, poor Kelsey headed back home with mom and is now quietly resting with her eyes closed in the den.
Just a reference to Tanya's blog yesterday...
" I want to give props to Elisa! My dearest cousin has really been making great strides in sharing all things vegan with you. I really love it! And I'm also so proud Gianna, who has embraced the vegan lifestyle with open arms. Kudos to my cousins." Now, just to be clear - my gang is doing our darnedest to transition to the vegan lifestyle 100% HOWEVER, we are still in transition. Gianna has done a magnificent job of giving up dairy for months now (and I see the results in her skin!!), However, both girls are still transitioning from poultry to 100% none. Not to say that they do not eat plant-based "chicken" and "meat" but everyone is not 100% there. I'm also not 100% off dairy either. This whole thing is a process and we are doing the best we can. But, I am so encouraged and touched by Tanya's words!!! Thanks cuz!!!
While I'm on the subject of healthy eating, Winter is often the season where many of us cast healthy habits to the side with the cold weather and spending less time outdoors.
In an effort to maintain my desired "girlish figure" - the healthy way! - I began a regimen last week of drinking ginger root tea several times throughout the day. I was already drinking lemon & honey water (hot), but after watching a few YouTube weight loss videos, I embraced the health benefits of ginger and added it to the mix. According to Bright Side, drinking ginger - lemon tea will help to achieve a flat stomach! Who doesn't want this!! So, I've been following the recipe and instructions per the video below. As you'll notice, it also calls for honey as well, which is not only healthy but yummy!
I also found another YouTube video from Top Ten List, which calls for a drink mixture of Parsley, Lemon, Ginger and Cucumber. I'm not sure I can ingest this right before bed (as the video suggests) but I think I'm going to give it the old college try, starting this weekend. I also love the benefits for the rest of my body as well and I think that is what will get me motivated to try this nightly drink.
I'll let you know how it goes. Here's the video for your reference.
Now that I have a plan for the health, well-being and appearance of my body, I'll be moving on today for some hair pampering.
Going to get my hair done this morning and I better scedaddle as it's getting late! Have a lovely day!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
A St. Nicholas Day celebration
Hi there!
I know that I'm bopping on here a bit late. But here I am nonetheless. And in continuation of yesterday's blog I'll update y'all that it is still very much raining here in SoCal.
It's one of the few times out of the year that we get to wear our rain boots . LOL
I've got a few things to do today that will have me in and out of the weather. One thing is taking a little trip to the (fairly) local Italian market - Claro's in Tustin, CA. Do you know what an Italian market is called in Italy? A market LOL Anyhoo we are having a special dinner tonight in honor of St. Nicholas Day.
I'll be picking up my very favorite dry pasta.
Do you know what my favorite dry pasta is? It's Fusilli Lunghi - oh how I love this pasta!!!
Do you know what my favorite home made fresh pasta is?
It's Cavatelli - I just made these last week for Dominic's birthday. Sooooo good.
I'll not be making the pasta from scratch tonight, but the sauce is ALWAYS from scratch and never ever ever pre-made or from a jar - YUCK.
As a tradition on St. Nicholas Day my family continues a Christmas ornament exchange in the name of my beloved Grandmother who had always marked this day by gifting us with a new Christmas ornament. Now since there are many more family members we do it as a Secret Santa Ornament exchange. Learn more about St. Nicolas and why this day is some important and means so much to my family. I managed to find an ornament for my secret person while we were in Las Vegas. Meanwhile both Cosette and Dave are still in need of finding the perfect ornament to gift TONIGHT! I am not one for doing things at the last minute and wish them the best of luck!! I'm gonna get crackin' again over here and I'll see you back here tomorrow. -Travelin' Tanya |
