Beach, Massages & Lots to Eat
Greetings from the beautiful Dominican Republic!!
I can hardly believe that today is our last full day. I do wish we had a few more days here! What a lovely island. And what's more, the people are nicest and warmest, which makes the island that much more beautiful. We completely enjoyed ourselves yesterday just relaxing, spending most of the day on the beach. The kids had a blast in the water for hours. It was the perfect way to spend our Christmas Day! I inadvertently forgot my camera card adapter for my laptop (Grrrrr). As a result I can only post those pictures I have taken with my phone. Here are a few of us from yesterday.
We treated ourselves to mom and daughter massages yesterday evening - it was the perfect way to end to a gorgeous beach day! The three of us were in one room together, enjoying the aromatic scents of eucalyptus and peppermint that filled the air, in combination with calming music, which, together soothed our senses.
The treatment was, in fact, so soothing that Kelsey fell asleep! We headed to the jacuzzi following our 50 minutes of sheer relaxation, and enjoyed the warmth of the bubbling water. All I can say is Wow! Did I mention that this resort trip is an "all-inclusive" with LOTS TO EAT? My gang has taken full advantage of the numerous buffets, sit-down restaurants, room service, beach front and pool-side food service options throughout our stay. Yesterday was no exception with a big buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. And I just realized, most of my foodie pics were taken with my big camera - I'll take a bunch today with my phone. What more can you ask for on an island vacay besides the beach, massages and lots to eat? Enjoy your day!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
T'was a Magical Christmas
What a wonderful and most amazing Christmas!
Happy Boxing Day to one and all...or as I like to call it "Christmas HANGOVER Day" Well folks I think my insane schedule should now go back to just my normal craziness! Christmas is now behind us and worth all of the insanity and hard work that leads up to my very favorite day of the year!!! While I love traveling more than anybody that I know and anyone who knows me or meets me knows that I travel more than anybody that they know. Christmastime is the one time of the year that I out and out REFUSE to travel. I do love seeing all the pictures that have been posted from family and friends. And I'm usually the one who will see travel pictures from around the world and wish that I was in these far off lands (sometimes even adding locations to my travel list) but that is just not the case around Christmas. I have the entire year to travel and I want to be home, otherwise my Christmas just wouldn't be the same. This year even Elisa and the girls were away for the big day as they had an Island Christmas, meanwhile other friends had invited me to go along with them to all sorts of amazing places and travel to far off lands and spend the holiday. But I just could never accept. I also refuse to make any plans on boxing day - the day after Christmas. It's my day to review and enjoy my gifts, stay home, play games, spend time with family, eat leftovers and cookies (lots of cookies - heck I made a dozen different types!). This is all a part of my holiday experience. And now for album "taste" of my magical Christmas...
It was and is the most beautiful and joyous day of the year that was definietly enjoyed by all. There was so very much love shared by family and friends and friends who are like family.
The gift giving and receiving is always a sweet bonus that is filled with the most thoughtful fabulous presents and then of course there is all of the amazing and super delicious home made food that added to the amazing occasion that is what our Christmas is and that we adore celebrating at this time of year! (Personally I'd rather eat at home with my cooking on any given day then even at the best of restaurants, but sometimes I certainly also enjoy the break, the pampering and letting someone else do the work for me.) So when you look at our mound of gifts, you might think that it is all of about the presents; but when you ask even the youngest (not counting Aurora lol) in our group and even they will answer that it's the experience all put together - sharing the gifts and the food with those you love most! I do so hope that what ever you did and where ever you were that you also had a most joyous Christmas holiday and that you keep that joy in your heart and share it all year through. I'll see you all back here tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya |
