BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
My Top 5 Picks for NYC Events Over Christmas Break
Hey there My Lovelies!!
Can you believe how close we are to Christmas - and I'm even closer to my Christmas Vacay to the Caribbean!!
No question about it - my holiday mode IS fully activated. Of course, no holiday season would be complete without one of these kids being sick - ugh! Kelsey has had a tough cold since Sunday. Cough, stuffy nose and as of last night, a fever.
I'm doing all the natural remedies and treatments possible, but, as we moms know - sometimes a cold just has to run its course. Even though hot lemon water with honey and cinnamon is a daily staple for me, the kiddos don't always ingest it at the same frequency and amount that I do. So, I've bumped up Kelsey's supply this week. This helps because we've got lemons, which are anti-viral, as well as honey, which is great for the throat. Additionally, I use oil of oregano (in a carrier oil) applied to the soles of the feet as a treatment when we are sick, as it is known to be one of nature's antibiotics. I simply mix a few drops of the oil of oregano with (in my case) olive oil, but you can use jojoba or another carrier oil, and then apply to the soles of feet since there are wide pores on this area of the body making absorption into the body greater. You can also take a few drops under the tongue, but it is quite nasty tasting. Hopefully, my girl will be on the mend by tomorrow. In Travel News... With the Christmas vacation upon us, I wanted to pass on a few suggestions for anyone staying home, here in the NYC-area OR who is visiting The Big Apple this holiday season. As you know, Goldstar.com is one of my absolute favorite event sites for thousand of event options (in all cities) all, at discounted prices. Most often for 50% off!! I've enjoyed many tours and events, which I've purchased through their site and have a few coming up in the first quarter of 2019. Here are five of my top choices for things to do during the week between Christmas and New Year's.
Click the link above to Goldstar's site or CLICK HERE to view these and other events happening. And remember, you can change the city to match wherever you will be this coming week or at any time for events, tours and more.
Secret Places of Central Park Walking Tour - $20.00 Event site: revolutionarytoursnyc.com
As part of your holiday "visit" to The Big Apple, why not explore one of the most iconic parks in the world. This 2-hour walking tour takes visitors through many of the enclaves that are rarely seen by tourists.
Did you know that the parks 843 wooded acres contains waterfalls, ravines, wooded arbors, bird sanctuaries, a willow-shaded loch and formal gardens to visit? Winter Weekdays at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens - FREE Event site: bbg.org
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has been designed to highlight the beauty of every season, and on weekdays there is no charge to meander about the winter beauty. Artfully pruned evergreen trees are shaped to gracefully hold snow, while the yukimigata ("snow-viewing") lantern on Turtle Island further turns snow into a work of art.
Enjoy the fresh smell of the pine trees and see if you can spy the resident pair of hawks, foraging cardinals, and koi that sometimes come up to the pond's surface to say hello. Warm up in the Steinhardt Conservatory and even partake in a bite or drink at the Yellow Magnolia Café. Cocoa & Carols on the Yacht Manhattan - $38.40 - $64.00 Event website: "Classic Harbor Cruises"
When was the last time you cruised around Manhattan at night. If it's been a while or you never have, why not enjoy the sparkling lights of The Big Apple with festive holiday music classics and toasty warm drinks aboard this 1-1/2 hour cruise.
See Lady Liberty in all her winter glory and New York City's greatest sights from the yacht's cozy solarium while sipping your choice of hot cocoa (spiked if you please), beer, wine, champagne, soda, coffee or tea, and munching on house-made cookies. Jersey Boys at The New World Stages - $59-$89 Event Site: jerseyboys.info
Audiences cannot get enough of this Tony-Award winning show. For more than a decade, folks have been going behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in this true-life musical phenomenon Jersey Boys. From the streets of New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this is the musical that’s just too good to be true.
The Big Apple Circus - $10 - $99 Event Site:bigapplecircus.com
One of the best circus experiences ever (in my humble opinion!) worth seeing with the whole family!
Big Apple Circus' latest show brings together some of the world's top circus acts and sets them lose in an intimate one-ring setting. at Lincoln Center! Take advantage of the time off with the kids to do something fun - a trip to NYC is great at Christmas time and after a memorable stop at Rockefeller Centre to see the iconic tree, extend the day with an additional activity! Quite annoyed with Amazon
Heya guys and Happy Humpday!
Last night was the last of the holiday performances for the International Peace Choir. My poor Cosette opted to call out, since she was feeling quite exhausted and on the edge of being under the weather. Which of course is something that we are trying to avoid at all costs! While being under the weather always sucks, not feeling well around the holidays or on a trip (in poor Kelsey's case) is definitely something to avoid if and when possible. It's certainly sucks all the fun out of what is suppose to be joyous occasions and seems to just add un-needed and un-wanted stress instead. Hopefully both girls get plenty of rest and start to feel 100% again real soon!!
Although Cosette did not make it to the performance, I still had my presidential duty to be there and to bring Dominic along to be of aid to our aging sound department.
If you recall, on Monday I was waiting on the Christmas gifts that I purchased for the Board Members. The order was from Amazon and had a guaranteed delivery of Dec. 17th. Well it hadn't arrived by the time I needed it and thus I had to go to the party empty handed. That sucked!! So I had explained the situation to each of the board members and told them that I would bring the gifts along with me last night for the last performance. Well guess what - still no delivery! Now I know that Amazon and UPS are quite busy doing the job of our Jolly Fat Man in a Red Suit and all 9 reindeers (yes I'm including Rudolph). But what good does a guarantee do if it means nothing???
Well, I've got another busy day ahead of me, but at least I didn't have any early morning running around.
Aside from helping everyone with their Christmas shopping and still finishing mine. I am also now working on the shopping list for all of the oh so many Christmas cookies that I'll soon be baking and also the list for our Christmas Eve and Christmas Dinner. Meanwhile I'm super excited for Elisa and her upcoming trip! Plus I also had to decline an invite to Germany and Austria with my friend Jodie. With everything that goes on over here, it's just way too difficult for me to travel in the month of December...especially the week or 2 right before Christmas. But a dream trip for me is to finally head to Europe and visit the Christmas markets. Perhaps I can squeeze this in early December one year after Cosette graduates from the choir. I'm one who likes to make sure that dreams come true, so don't be surprised when you see this trip on my calendar!! Okay toodles and have a great one, -Travelin' Tanya |
