BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
James Charles Make-up & Beauty Fun at the Mall
Hello - I'm back!!
I was out and about pretty early yesterday with my gals. We had opted earlier in the week, when we heard the weather report, to reschedule our Christmas in the Big Apple day for after our trip to Dominican Republic and instead, stay local to shop and have a leisurely day together. After dropping off Punkin at "Aunt Cathy's" at Jo Mar, me and my girlies headed over to Roosevelt Field Mall. Normally, I do not enjoy the mall when I HAVE to be there, but yesterday was just about walking around, with a focus on make-up and food. First stop, the beautiful Christmas tree, for a holiday photo!
The truth is, we were planning to get a great shot in front of Rockefeller Center today, but when the visit into NYC got nixed, our second choice was the mall (no comparison, I know lol).
The good news is, we were dry and warm in the mall, so the kids were happy...and - as fate would have it - Kelsey was not feeling well with a sore throat, so we were probably better off indoors.
Our first stop was Red Mango for a few morning smoothies. Of course, I forgot to take pictures - darn - but let me tell you - they were deelish. Kelsey and I got the Banana Peanut Butter Protein and Gianna went with a healthier choice, selecting the Citrus Mango Greens. Of we went, walking around and the girls were dying to hit the Morphe store to check out the James Charles line. The make-up guru of YouTube fame, was recently at Roosevelt Field for a celebrity appearance. Unfortunately, the girls were not able to get tickets, which sold out extremely fast! Both girls were in heaven, trying on shadows, lip colors and chatting about the items for which they are going to save up!
The girls are also fans of another make-up celebrity artist, Jeffree Star, whose cosmetic line is also featured in Morphe.
From Morphe, we moved on to E.L.F. Cosmetics (which was packed!) and then to NYX, another make-up store. We stopped in at Jo Malone to enjoy the many scents, two of which were our favorites:
We even went into the Disney store, where we got very psyched for our upcoming February trip!
Last visit was to Rituals. Described on their website as "known to carry little luxuries for the body and home, Rituals helps you slow down, to find happiness in the smallest of things. It is our passion to turn everyday routines into more meaningful rituals," the store is truly relaxing with its dim lighting and wonderful aromas.
Both, Gianna and Kelsey were given very relaxing hand treatments with luxurious foam soap, shower oil, scrub and moisturizer. The girls both opted for the Happy Buddha collection with its sweet orange and mood-enhancing cedar wood. Wow what a lovely scent!!!
The full set is priced at $45 both in-store and on Amazon, which I think is a great value!!
We worked up quite an appetite, and just in time for our lunch reservation at Season's 52.
Very relaxing and yummy, it was the perfect way to end our shopping day! Here are a few of our dishes!! The rest of today will be spent finalizing our packing for Puerto Plata, straightening the house and relaxing! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!! -Till Tomorrow! Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
Shopping, Sneak Preview of Aquaman and a Night out with Friends
Hey guys!!!
I know, I know, I can't believe it either...I'm actually on the Daily Scoop 2 days in a row in the month of December. SHOCKER! While I do a ton of running around and have a schedule that is filled from the early mornings until the late nights. Heck I work harder than the sun around the holidays! I'm up before the sun and don't go down until waaaaaay after the sun does. LOL During the week I am usually on my own for those early mornings. So on the weekend it's nice to get out there busting a move with friends and family. We hit shopping plaza after shopping plaza and were fairly productive. In fact, with all of the online shopping that I did in the morning before heading out and then the shopping I did while out and about. I felt pretty good about the condition of my shopping list. Granted that in years past, I am usually all finished with Christmas shopping by now. But it is what it is and I'm still out there doing what needs to be done. In fact, I'm not sure if you recall, but I bought my first Christmas present of the year all the way back in February of 2018 on a trip to Chicago! After lunch at Mead's Green Door, which was just ehhh. We were back at it and off shopping once again. After a few more stand along stores, we were off to the Brea Mall. Luckily we found a parking spot fairly soon after our arrival. And although the parking was full, the mall wasn't as bad (crowd wise) as I was expecting. Dave B. and Dave C. managed to pick up a few things. But the kids and I were now on a dry spell. You do realize that we have a list of about 20 people to shop for and I get all of the immediate family several gifts a piece. Some might think it's crazy. But I love being able to share gifts and spread the joy of my loved ones receiving things that they so enjoy.
Immediately after our trip to the mall we went to go meet up with friends and catch the Amazon Prime Sneak Preview of Aquaman - which isn't released until next weekend.
Since we were a bit early for the assigned seated theater, we hung out and caught up with Jasmine, Bruce, and Zhrik, at a nearby creperie.
Then on the way to the theater, we had bopped around catching a few pics along the way.
The excitement built as we approached the theatre and took our seats.
The lights went down, the previews began and soon Aquaman took to the screen.
This theater happens to offer fully reclining seats which were oh so comfortable. You know what that means... That means there is a very high likely hood that I will be napping somewhere along the way. And that is exactly what I did. *Gasp However since there were 9 of us - only the two that I was sitting between caught glimpses of me while I caught a few zzz's. It's not that I missed the movie. It's just that I missed parts of the movie. So I can't share with you at this point how it was. Guess you'll have to go see it on your own! lol
Next up was going for a bite. I was kind of beyond hungry. especially since I wasn't at all satisfied with lunch.
We decided to try out Huntington Ramen and Sushi in Fullerton. A little known Ramen and Sushi house that offers a FULL vegan menu!! Not to worry, we here at Travelin' Cousins are gonna be sure that you know about it and add it to our Vegan Resource Guide. Out of our group of 9 there were 6 vegans!! It is a rare occasion that we go out with friends and are the majority.
So of course we ordered and ordered and ordered!!
Here are just a few things that we tried, as there were many, but also several that I did not care for the lighting on in the pictures that I took. *Side note, I had forgot to take my camera and only had my phone with me to take pictures with - I think I need a new phone with a better camera! They offer several different varieties of Ramen:
And then there was the sushi. This was a pic (below) that Zhrik had taken and it was of much better quality than the ones from my phone. So although we had ordered a bunch of appetizers and plenty of food that was being delivered to the table non-stop, I have chosen to not share the "crappy" pics. But just because I'm not sharing the photos does not mean that I don't recommend a visit to Huntington Ramen and Sushi.
One really cool thing that I saw listed on the menu was that they are in the works of opening an All Vegan Eatery!!
We wrapped up our day of shopping, the sneak preview and a night out with friends at around midnight. We had all gone our seperate ways and hope to do something like that again soon! Today my gang is off to a IPC Holiday Performance at Pretend City in Irvine, CA and then it will be another day of Christmas shopping. I have my cameras in hand and I think we will be taking a visit to the famed South Coast Plaza - one of the absolute BEST malls in the country! Hopefully we find a parking spot!!
See you back here soon,
