Dominican Republic Dreaming
Hi ya!!
Whew - what a whirlwind morning. Today and tomorrow are extremely busy days and I wasted no time getting into gear from the moment I woke up. Well, speaking of waking up, for some reason, I must have hit the "stop" button on my phone rather than the "snooze" button when it went off at 6am this morning because the next thing I knew, Gianna came in my room saying that we had all overslept and it was 7:15!! I shot up and threw on a sweatshirt, brushed my teeth and raced downstairs to put the girls' lunches together. Then, I realized, that Kelsey had a half day - NO LUNCH to be made for her. I raced through making Gianna's sandwich, put some bread in the toaster for a quick on-the-go breakfast and pretty much ran out the door with the girls. Poor Punkin didn't even eat or go out. The four of us were on our way and believe it or not, each of the kids was on time. Whew!!
My craziness didn't end there. Once back home, I fed Punkin and began preparing food for the rest of the day. Why you may ask?
Well, when Kelsey gets home from school, I have to race to the salon to get my hair done, so I wanted to be sure there was lunch waiting for her. After my beautification treatment, I must hurry back to pick up Gianna from school and since I have to rush off to a 4pm appointment, I wanted to have her dinner read, since she is always so famished after school. So, I prepared all the ingredients for tacos, to insure she'd have something to eat once she is back home! Another Whew for me. Now if that isn't enough, I have an article due by tomorrow for ThisIsTheBronx.com, which I will be working on while my hair is "cooking' with color and do any edits later this evening when I return home. And, in case you are interested, tomorrow is no better - volunteering at Gianna's school for lunch duty; after school doctor appointment for Gianna and then Kelsey's Christmas show in the evening. This week will definitely be a TGIF kind of Friday!!
Moving right along - this is the time I love to immerse myself in travel thoughts, fantasies and planning!! With only 9 days to go for our trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, I'm sooo ready to be lying on a beach, under an umbrella, sipping a nice, tropical drink!
My suitcase is all packed!! Down to the sunscreen and a big sun hat! The idea of doing NOTHING but soaking up the sweet sea air and digging my toes in the sand gives me such incredible pleasure! Our biggest decisions during our time on the lovely island of the Dominican Republic will be which restaurant to eat at each night! Although you know how much I love touring and exploring, I promised the girls (especially Gianna) that this would be a completely restful vacay. That's not to say, we are not planning to do some water activities, such as snorkeling and perhaps jet skiing, but I can assure you, everything will be approached with utmost calm and ease. Of course, regardless of how much peace and stillness we enjoy, picture taking will be a constant!! So, do not worry - you'll be enjoying the entire trip with us! Off I go, yet again! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
An Evening with Fleetwood Mac
Hi folks!
I don't even know where to start or what to say. I have missed the past 2 days with you and have been ridiculously busy. Not sure how or why it happened but, it truly feels as though I'm busier this year than I have been in the past. Today was the first morning in I don't know how long that I didn't start my day in pitch blackness. Between a choir performance, rehearsal, prepping and leading a quarterly associates meeting, hanging out with both new and old friends, all the absolutely insane running around (because nothing is close by in SoCal) and finally going to the opening night of An Evening with Fleetwood Mac.
And what a wonderful Evening with Fleetwood Mac it was..
Dave had opted out of coming along and so it was a Girls Night out. Friends Jodie, Kathy and I went out to the Los Angeles Forum to go see Fleetwood Mac.
After yet another long and hectic day of running around. I had just enough time to run into the house to change, say hello to the kids, and hustle right back out from which I came. Whew.
I still needed to catch up with Dave, who was going to drop me off at the designated car-pool meeting spot that Kathy and I would head to Los Angeles from. We met up with Jodie once we arrived at the Forum. The ladies grabbed a bite from across the street - at a Louisiana style cafe and then it was off to see the show.
Stopping along the way at whatever photo op that we could. We were excited and ready to have a good time!!
Jodie had secured us great floor seats to the sold out concert and everyone was on there feet once Fleetwood Mac took to the stage.
The energy was amazing and the group was phenomenal!
Most of the night felt like a super fun giant sing along to this fabulous setlist:
What a great night! And I was so thankful this morning when the sun was already rising as I started to awake for another (what I am expecting to be) busy day.
I do know that we plan of going tree shopping later this evening. I'll let you know. Within the next couple of weeks I also plan on sharing with you a 2018 travel wrap up as well as a 2018 concerts wrap up. For now let's just hope that I can bop back on here tomorrow. Tootles, -Travelin' Tanya |
