Welcome to a New Week!!Happy Monday everyone!! The gang is so thrilled in my house since they have no school today. It's the Immaculate Conception, a Catholic Holiday. Great Sunday Dinner with Friends... Yesterday was a great day! Over at Denise's house, we cooked some great soups - a chicken soup and a vegetable soup with a ton of veggies including parsnips, turnips, carrots, peas, onions, kale, corn, potatoes and orzo. Both were amazing with very different tastes. Denise actually uses cumin in her chicken soup and it has such a deep flavor. Gianna was our resident baker, banking out some delicious Italian Lemon Drop Cookies. They were so yummy!! Christmas "To Do's" - Day 8 A relatively new tradition in our house since the girls were younger is the "Elf On A Shelf." Are you familiar with it? What started as a new self-published children's book in 2006, by American author Carol Aebersold and daughter Chanda Bell, has grown into popularity for families each Christmas. If you are not familiar with the story, The Elf on the Shelf®: A Christmas Tradition is a cleverly rhymed children’s book which explains the story of Santa’s scout elves, who are sent to be Santa’s eyes and ears at children’s homes around the world! When a family adopts a scout elf and gives it a name, the scout elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day's adventures. Each morning, the scout elf returns to its family and perches in a different place in the home. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their scout elf each morning. Click Here for more information about adopting your own Elf if you think your kids would enjoy this! I just put my little Elf out this morning for Kelsey to find! One other thing - - one of the "rules" is that children is not allowed to "touch" the Elf or he loses his flying powers. Entertainment Reviews... Well, as promised last week, I have a review of Love Letters on Broadway, which I saw last week. I hope you enjoy it. This is a limited engagement so if you are interested, get your tickets fast! Click the Image for more information and to purchase tickets. Expecting an nor'easter hear on Long Island so if you are in the area - STAY DRY!! Have a fantastic day!!!! -E | Another Day to Enjoy!Well HELLOOOOO Monday! It's a new week and I actually got to sleep a bit later than usual this morning - which was quite lovely! Yesterday was filled with lots of lots of yummy FOOD... I was either in the kitchen cooking or at the table eating - ALL DAY LONG!!! We were doing a post birthday celebration for Dominic to spend with the family here at home (since we spent his actual birthday celebrating in the Big Apple)! And the way to my boy's heart is definitely through his stomach! He had designed the menu, I went to work, and we all enjoyed filling our bellies with a big Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert together in celebration! By the end of the night our taste buds were sure happy and our pants were tight! Today we eat less! LOL The plan for yesterday was to also go bowling, but we decided to postpone that to a day that would work out for everyone to join in on the fun. Giving us more time to stay home and EAT! Another Performance... Today will be a day at home for the most part, I've got some cleaning/organizing to do, maybe run a few little errands, but not much going on until this evening, when (being a Monday) we usually have choir rehearsal, but tonight the kids have another Christmas performance! And I particularly enjoy these December shows, I love Christmas songs, and the season is really so short - ONLY 18 more days until Christmas!!! After the performance we will continue with Dominic's west coast birthday celebration plans and go to the movies. We are going to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 And so the week goes, right now I'm going to look at some ideas for booking travel and I'll meet you back here tomorrow for Travelin' Tuesday! Have a Great Day, -T |
