Early Day/Horse Show

A very early good morning to you!  I'm literally writing this at the crack of dawn today.

I promised the girls I'd take them out to see their advanced rider friends from the barn compete.  The only catch is...the show starts at 8am, all the way out in Suffolk county.

Fortunately, we are able to just get up and go (with the exception of nuking and toasting a few bagels) and off we will go.

Of course, I wasn't getting off the hook that easy...the girls asked if they could go back to the barn after the riding show and "see their horses."

I told them only if they completed all their Summer homework - this was Thursday.  At 6pm last night, I was informed that they both finished all three of their respective assignments.

So much for that strategy lol.  Then they upped the ante again and asked if they could ride for an hour since they were going to be there.  I couldn't really say no, but I did limit the time to 1 hour.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, as I'm going to be meeting one of my girlfriends for lunch following our busy morning.

From the one and only Sunset Tower Hotel

GREETINGS GREETINGS GREETINGS!

I'm still here at the top of the California historic landmark the Sunset Tower Hotel. 

DID YOU KNOW:
The Sunset Tower Hotel was the FIRST quake proof structure in the city!

Not that I enjoy quakes - they scare the heck out of this non-native!!

But I guess the good thing is that  I don't have to worry about the building crumbling beneath me in the event of an Earthquake...GOD FORBID 

And I say beneath me because if I didn't mention yesterday we are staying in the Penthouse Suite - Check out this wrap-around terrace:

So I decided that today I would do a little recap for ya, and then tomorrow share some of the very unique and glamorous history that surrounds this hotel!

After enjoying the views and the comforts of our suite, it got to the point that I was starving and I really needed to eat...
Plans were to head to a nearby place 'Mudhen Tavern' which isn't fully vegan, but I have been curious about. However as we pulled up, it looked rather dead - or shall I rephrase that and say it looked quiet...almost closed - and thus it was. I then noticed that the brunch hours are only on Sundays. 

So as my stomach continued to rumble, I had to find a nearby replacement and fast!

We opted for Mohawk Bend - another place that I've been quite curious about, but have yet to try out. 

I ordered a buttload more that either of us could eat at one sitting (leftovers anyone?!) 

And then although I was quite satisfied I realized that an ice cream shoppe that I've also been dying (GOD FORBID) to try was only a few blocks away - I kid, it was a few miles away. But close enough for me to indulge!!! 

YUMMERS this place was so good! I can't wait to take the kids here!!

Next stop was Burbank for a little Saturday shopping therapy ;)

We went to the very unique store 'Unique Vintage' which only sells new threads - but designed after Vintage wear throughout the eras of the 1900's from the 1930's through the 1980's. And this is where we were picking up the dress that Dave had recently ordered for me!

While there I could help but pick up an awesome HUGE hat to take with me to Europe - don't give me that look - it was on my shopping list!

I also found another wonderful dress that just says Rome all over it - and since I'll be in Rome soon - I uhhh needed that Dress too!

Then back to the hotel we went...
We got to kick back for a bit and watch some of the Olympics before getting ready for dinner and heading back out to the ever popular and hip vegan joint Crossroads Kitchen.

And then back to this weekends home away from home...

It was time to call it a night.

More fun happening today - but you already knew that!
