Pizza Trip This Week and Rome Says No to McDonalds
Hey there!
Coming to you from Starbucks - writing my Scoop and enjoying the cool, fresh breeze. It's remarkably empty today, but, my guess is that lots of folks headed for the beach or the pool. I've got my Punkin with me, who with all due respect, is driving me crazy. Did you ever meet a dog who would rather be in the car than sit outside? Well, that's my fur baby. She's crying to go back in the car.
Tomorrow I have a fun afternoon planned - me and the girls will be heading to The Bronx to enjoy lunch at Kingsbridge Social Club, where they serve a tremendous selection of wood fired pizza.
Obviously, me and Gianna will have to order selections we choose without cheese, but Kelsey can enjoy all the cheese she wants!
And now, on the lighter side of travel... McDonald's Denied Right to Open Near Ancient Site According to Afar.com, Rome has opted to bar McDonald’s from opening near the Baths of Caracalla. Apparently, the world famous hamburger chain was planning the construction of a new 8,611-square-foot McDonald’s restaurant next to the ancient Roman site.
This great archeological site dates back to the 3rd century C.E. and has appeared in numerous Italian motion pictures, including
Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita and more recently in Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s The Great Beauty. Rome already has forty McDonald's, but, after protests from the municipal administration against the burger chain opening near the ancient public bathhouse, Alberto Bonisoli, Italy’s culture minister, announced the decision to deny construction of their latest desired location. I don't know about you - but given the choice between McDonald's and authentic Italian food, I'd always go for the latter!! On that note, here's to a fun Sunday!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
