Mountain Biking and Tree Climbing in Bend, Oregon
GREETINGS FROM BEND, OREGON~
Well my dear lovelies,
Yesterday was a real SCORCHER!!!! It was actually kinda weird. The weather seemed all good and mild at the beginning of the day. In fact I had even worn a sweater during breakfast... Breakfast was a Power Bowl at Mother's Cafe - which was absolutely super yummy and we'll be going back for another this morning!!
The weather still seemed mild when we went over to the local bike shop (Hutch's Bicycles) for trail recommendations...
The recommendations proved amazing and soooo much FUN - Catch and Release - Storm King - Tiddlywinks - Larsen - Tyler’s Traverse.
But once we got out there on trail it was an entirely different set of temperatures and I was suffering from being overheated.
It was 87 degrees and I was burning up. I was moving quite slowly and it was quite ridiculous. I was literally moving at a snails pace. It was pathetic. When we reached the halfway point I figured that it was a good time to take a break and refuel with some yummy organic fruit. Side note - the trails are full of cute little chipmunks who scurry around. Some of these chipmunks also appear to be suicidal! They run out onto the trail right in front of fast moving objects (mountain bikers). Yesterday I saw a squished chipmunk. It was sad. Break time -
While sitting there taking a time out, I spotted a lofted bike in a tree that was across from me...
So what else does a girl do while out mountain biking... CLIMB A TREE of course!!
After our break, we were off again and luckily the remainder of the trail was mostly shaded and the temps were lower.
This ride was great fun and I had a blast doing it!
Next up was checkout out the Old Mill District and River view.
By this time we were both quite hungry and in need of cleaning up. So off to our hotel we went. Took care of the showers and then back into town for dinner at Deschutes Brewery.
I'm taking an easy day today and doing 2 bike trail rides. One gravel ride in Bend - Deschutes River Trail and one bike path trail in Banks - the Banks to Vernonia Trail. Catch you guys back here tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya |
5 Reasons Why You Should Visit Fremantle, Australia Today
HEY THERE AND HAPPY MONDAY!!
I've been MIA this past weekend and my apologies! However, as I'm back today, I will be sharing a new Guest Blog article with you here on Travelin' Cousins. This week, we're excited to bring you on a virtual trip Down Under to Fremantle, Australia! But, before I share that with you, let me tell you what's been happening on this end. Today, we were all up and out early, as Kelsey began her first day of her high school entrance exam course. I will admit, it was NOT easy getting up early as we've been going to bed quite late for the past two weeks and in turn, waking up a bit late. But, not this week!! Early all week! And each day is a bit busy, getting kids ready for the new school year, overseeing their summer school assignments that are due the first week of school and even doing some end of season shopping for the girls. With the seasons changing here in New York, the weather will only get cooler and cooler. However, we have two trips in the near future to warm weather destinations. October we will be heading to HOT Las Vegas and November (Thanksgiving), we'll be shoving off to Orlando, Florida to Disney World. That is why I have the girls shopping for some cute warm weather outfits!! I also had a chance to catch up with Tanya via text yesterday for an update on her end. Wow - she is really getting around and yesterday proved no exception. Biking all around Bend, Oregon, my legs were getting tired just hearing about her riding! Well, let's get to our featured Guest Blog today...
