Croatia planning and countdown
Hello all!
How's your day going? The earlier part of my day was busy running around and then I had just enough downtime to go and pick up Cosette and for us to head to the gym.
The plans for the day were constantly changing...
I had a strict schedule this morning which all went off without a hitch and according to plan. In fact I even had a chance to make a short visit to the bookstore - travel guides of course!
There I was looking for books and ideas for Croatia (countdown is at 38 days), Greece (countdown is at 64 days), then I had even picked up a book on the Amalfi Coast (one of my favorite places) - happening in May/June 2020, and Costa Rica - happening in March 2020
But the rest of the plans - like for the rest of the day just kept changing and adjusting.
What time would we go to the gym? Were we going to Mika's soccer practice? Was Cosette going shopping with Liz and Mika? Then Cosette got a call to see if she could come in (later today) on her day off and cover for a sick co-worker. She said yes. And then we accomplished 2 out of the 3 and now I'm at Dominic's class. I'm watching on occasion and putting together the day to day schedule for Croatia... Everything is BOOKED and it's coming along! We depart on Sept. 20th and I'm super excited to go and explore a country that I've never been to. Back to the books for me. Catch you folks tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya |
Castles and Historic Places in Scotland
Howdy - I'm back! I had way too much to do yesterday and didn't make it on here. Apologies!!
The good news is that my dear cuz, Tanya blogged her little heart out telling all about her sweet time this past weekend at the Hollywood Bowl. There is no question, she has really been hitting the road lately, including an upcoming trip to Portland and Bend, Oregon. As for me, I was a busy little beaver yesterday packing lots of stuff in my house that needed to be HAULED today for the bulk garbage pick up. How does one house have so much accumulated CRAP!!
Well, thankfully, with the help of my friend and her son, we were able to bring tons of unwanted stuff and garbage to the curb. I'd say, I have probably two more "haulings" to do to the curb and I'll be completely "Move-Out" ready for when the time comes.
My goal is to bring AS LITTLE as possible to my new house. I am planning to be a minimalist going forward. Ahhh - ok - moving right along. So you guys know how obsessed I've become with OUTLANDER, having been binge watching it for the past week or so. Well, as fate would have it, I received an email from Travel Magazine with an article all about Scotland!! Scotland’s Aberdeenshire: Discover 900 years of queens, castles and royal heritage
This piece features some wonderful information and spectacular photos of numerous castles and Scotland destinations including Balmoral Castle, the summer residence of the British Royal family for more than a hundred years, since it was purchased by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1852, as well as Drum Castle, the family home of the Irvines of Drum for more than 650 years.
HOWEVER, the place that truly caught my eye was Castle Fraser (pictured above). Now, as any fan of Outlander knows, the lead character is Jamie Fraser and so the name just popped out to me as I was reading this article! Although Jamie is a fictitious character on the drama television series based upon author Diana Gabaldon's historical time travel book series of the same name, for fans like me, its now hard to think about Scotland and not think of the Fraser name. The real Castle Fraser in Scotland sits on 300 acres of land and has been home to the Fraser family for more than 400 years. According to Travel Magazine, "It was gifted to the National Trust in the 1970s, and has been a film location on several occasions, most significantly as a double of Balmoral Castle during the filming of the Oscar winning film The Queen, starring Helen Mirren. I encourage you to read the full article, as it features a number of historic places to put on your list for your future trip to Scotland! Tonight I'll be heading to the movies with Gianna to see
I heard it was pretty funny, so I'm looking forward to judging for myself.
See ya back here tomorrow!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
