Tanya's Scoop Covering the West Coast & the World CURRENTLY IN: RENO TO SALT LAKE CITY Welcome back and glad to have you with us for another Saturday edition on The Scoop. As you know, I'm on the road and putting in many miles as I tour the country bit by bit. After happily being rescued after an overnight stuck out in Tonopah, NV, we were off and heading for Medford, OR. The drive was just under 9 hours. Which is nothing for me nowadays. Luckily I am a bonafide fan of road trips and love being on the road. These drive really give such a wonderful view and perspective where we get to experience all the different geographies. The landscapes can really vary so very much from region to region and state to state, yet sometimes you can find all the little similarities. I love sitting back, being in the moment and really appreciating just how magnificent the world that we live in truly is. Then of course there are other times that I decide to look at those same things from behind the lens of a camera... I've been writing this from the road and since my eyes have been on the screen I haven't really been able to take in the beauty that is surrounding me. So I'm gonna log off now and hopefully snap some more pictures for me to share. Oh yeah and by the way, all my car issues are luckily behind me. I'm now in a mechanically sound vehicle with excellent A/C! Hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend and hope to see you soon, -Travelin' Tanya | Elisa's Scoop Covering Long Island & NYC Boroughs CURRENTLY IN: LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK Good Day and Happy August!! It's a new month today! As I sit here re-capping my visit in today's blog, I'm sitting and enjoying my daily coconut hot chocolate with Frank Sinatra playing on Alexa. Can't think of a better way to spend my Saturday morning!! What a day I had yesterday in The Bronx! I was working on a story about NYC Outer Borough The Bronx that will be published later this month, "Arthur Avenue Small Businesses Share Their Thoughts About Reopening after Covid-19 Pandemic" and I had the pleasure of sitting and chatting with a number of Little Italy merchants. I took my lovely Gianna with me and together we strolled along Arthur Avenue and the surrounding streets to visit a few of our fave store owners. Our first visit was to Arthur Cantina Wine & Liquors, where we chatted things up with Anthony Agrisani. The store is looking better than ever and their online business is exploding with customers all around the country as a result of the specialty wines they carry. Next stop, Gino's Pastry Shop and Cafe for some "Donnolis" and cappuccino with Jerome and Giovanna. These original "cannoli doughnuts" are the invention of Gino's owner, Jerome and quickly becoming renowned throughout the Bronx and the country!! More to come on these in my upcoming story, "The Real Little Italy's Gino's Pastry Shop and their Original "Donnolis" so stay tuned! Our final stop was a nearby walk up 187th Street to neighborhood institution Borgatti's Ravioli and Egg Noodle Shop. So, here's where Elisa's big mouth and love for talking got in the way - I FORGOT to take a photo with owner Chris Borgatti and his lovely wife, Joan!! That's right. It was my first time meeting the owner couple, and I was so caught up in our delightful conversation that as I was heading home towards the Cross Bronx Expressway I exclaimed to Gianna (riding shotgun) "OH S%&T! I FORGOT TO TAKE A PHOTO WITH CHRIS AND JOAN!" Well, it just gives me an excuse to stop by during my next Little Italy visit. Two summers ago while me and Travelin' Tanya were on our Bronx Church Tour with Alexandra Maruri of Bronx Historical Tours, we had an incredible time with Chris Jr. as he walked us through the past eight decades and the history of Borgatti's. We were also treated to watching him make their world-famous egg noodles!! Great travel memories! Have a super Saturday! See ya back here Monday!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
