Tanya's Daily Scoop | Elisa's Daily Scoop Arbor Day & Tree FoodsGood day to you! Here it is, Friday already, the beginning of the weekend. Not much going on this weekend, except for the usual - Saturday out at the barn and perhaps some surprise activities on Sunday. Going to see what the kids are in the mood to do...I will keep you posted. But, sometimes it's nice not to have a full agenda! So, let's take a closer look at Arbor Day... Arbor Day is always the last Friday in April, celebrated since 1872 and celebrates the importance of trees. The holiday is The Tree Planter's holiday which has its beginnings in Nebraska, a largely treeless plain back in the 1800's. It is a day to plant and dedicate a tree to help nature and the environment. Millions of trees are planted on this day. The National Arbor Day Foundation is the biggest non-profit organization in the world, that works towards planting trees, which was started on September 3, 1971. It provides millions of trees for planting. The wonder is that we can see these trees and not wonder more. |
