My Spring Break Plans This Week
A Big Monday Morning Hello!!
I don't know if it's the stress lately of Dad's appointments and working hard to keep him healthy, but I've been soooo remiss with daily photos.
Thank goodness that my dear cuz, Tanya always has great personal photos to share! Take for instance yesterday - Easter Sunday. Did I take one photo? NO!!!! I'm really in a fog. My mind has been so focused on schedules and getting where I need to be during the past few weeks that I have to admit - I have not been 100% present when I'm out having a leisurely time. In any case, that does not diminish in any way, the experiences. We managed to bop around yesterday, and get all of our "to do's" completed as well. As you may recall, we are dog-sitting my sweet neighbor's chocolate lab this week while they are on a family vacation. She's such a good dog! Each day, we visit her four times to feed, let her out and spend some time with her. Yesterday was no exception!
We headed for Astoria at around noon to have brunch with Aunt Ro. The weather was on and off sunny and cloudy, but when the sun was out, it was absolutely gorgeous and very breezy.
We tried a new restaurant (for us, the place has been there for a few years), called Antika, a cute, cozy little joint that specialized in thin-crust pizza from a brick oven & other Italian staples.
Kelsey was in her glory to have pizza with breaded chicken cutlet and fresh mozzarella!!
I opted for orecchiette pasta with my all-time favorite veggie - broccoli rabe, while Gianna had a veggie panini and Aunt Ro went for a fresh garden salad and porcini mushroom ravioli.
Of course, my head is a bit out somewhere in the clouds, because I didn't take any pictures, except for the food.
After a fun get together, me and the girls stopped back home to check on Punkin and Frankie and then made our way over to mom and dad's for the evening. Oh, and once again, I forgot to take pictures. So, let me assure you, it was a really nice day overall and you'll have to take my word for it, since there is no visual representation. (I'm so annoyed at myself). In any case, we are headed to Dad's 8th radiation treatment today, which will leave him with only 2 more!! Thank goodness, his pain level has diminished almost entirely. With the girls off from school this week, we had some plans prior to Dad getting sick, but thankfully, they were all local - no trips planned. Unfortunately, I think we're going to lay low so we can spend time with Dad and take each day as it comes. One thing we do have, that will not change is our tickets to see The Avengers End Game!!! Me and the girls have been waiting a very long time for this movie's release and it is finally here this week!!
As you can imagine, we are not the only ones waiting for the movie! Considering how many other people have been awaiting the movie, there were not many tickets available for the showings this weekend, when it opens in theaters.
We waited a bit longer than we should have to buy advanced tickets and as such, there were not many options for show times. We settled on a 1AM showing this Friday night (Saturday morning??), rather than wait any longer for a better time!! Yup - so me, Gianna and Kelsey will be heading to the movies this Friday at midnight...for which we can hardly wait! This will be our big excitement for the week!! However, I'll be sure to fill you in if anything else comes up!! Have a great Monday!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
My Easter Photo Recap
GREETINGS from Quartzite, Arizona
We left Anaheim Hills at 6am this morning and are heading to Phoenix. Estimated to arrive in about another hour and a half.
After spending the day in Phoenix our road trip will continue onward to Houston, Texas! More on this as the trip unwinds.
Today however, I will share with you all about how my Easter went. As I left off with you yesterday, I felt as though the day was seemingly kind of weird. And now that I have experienced the day in full, I can in fact share with you that if was a weird day. At least for me it was. I am a planner. Most my family members however are not. I had asked and inquired for weeks about what the Easter plans might be. There was no answer. And no set plans. So here is how it all went down, we stuck to the traditions and did the egg hunt, the kids all got their baskets, we did family pictures and we had a big family dinner. Some of the family members had decided at the last minute that they were going to head off to the Fullerton Arboretum. This was decided at 3pm and the Arboretum would close at 4:30p. The kids, Dave and I were all hungry. Having only eaten breakfast. So as much as I might've enjoyed heading over to the Arboretum, without having known about it early enough to make proper plans, we had to opt out and instead we headed to grab Acai Bowls and go to Whole Foods. Here are some pictures from the day:
That there is the re-cap of how my day went.
I guess it's okay and now we are on our way. On the road again! Back atcha tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya |
