Pranks for the Family

Good day Folks!! And welcome to a new month!!

Similarly to Tanya, I don't have nay pranks today, however, some of you may remember last year's blog on April 1st, I had a few of you going with my tall tale about getting on plane spur of the moment, to Paris.

Here's the link...

Back to April Fool's Day...
Have you ever tried to think about some really fun pranks to pull on April Fool's Day?

I found a really cool article  from Parenting.com for family fun pranks:

Family-Friendly April Fools' Day Pranks

Here are five  of my favorites from the article:

1. Undrinkable Juice

Fill your child's usual juice cup with gelatin after dinner and place it in the refrigerator.

It will be fun to watch your little one wonder what happened!

2. No TV Tonight
Are your husband and kids addicted to their remotes  - here's a great Place small pieces of clear tape over the sensors on the television and gaming console remotes!! Now that could be fun!

3. Buggy Lunch
This one is pretty gross! Try tuck plastic bugs and beetles in your child's packed lunch!  Sneak them in bagged sandwiches or reusable containers filled with fruit. Gross.

4. Backwards Dinner
This one is funny!  Give the kids a topsy-turvy dinner --how about bake meatloaf in a 12-cup muffin tin and frost with mashed potatoes for a "cupcakes" dinner!  How cute is this??

5. Upside Down House
After everyone goes to bed, turn as many things upside down as you can, including framed pictures, clocks, chairs and toys.  Your family will be flawed!

Did you check Tanya's side and her 17 for 2017 - 17 Fun Filled Facts for April Fools Day
As for me, I did a little shppoing this week, and since it is Shopping Saturday, here on TC, let me share these fun purchases with you!

I just love dresses lately!  So, I found three adorable ones for the Spring.

I just love the vibrant coral color of the above dress from White House Black Market.

And, I ordered it in a petite (yes, I did all my shopping that I'm telling you about on-line AND to boot, I went through E-Bates to get cash back) and it fit so perfectly!!

Now, I'm looking for the perfect pair of shoes to go with it.  I actually like the shoes featured which are also from White House Black Market, but they were a little more expensive than I wanted to spend.  So, I'm going to keep searching.

However, what I can say is that I'm definitely going with a "floral" print on the shoe - so fun for the Spring and Summer!!

One of my other favorite stores is New York & Company.  Their clothes are very true to size, are cut nicely and their prices are very reasonable.

I found two casual dresses last night and was able to use a $10-off coupon code (from E-bates) and so both dresses totaled (with tax and free shipping) $63.77!!!

I'm really hoping that they both fit!  I have some fun places to go in May and June and I'm looking forward to wearing these!

Today, I'll probably hit DSW Shoe Warehouse to see if I can find some matching shoes  - particularly for the coral dress. I did find a pair of of Kelly & Katie pumps but I can't tell if the pattern has "red" or "coral" so I'm going to look in person.

The Marc Fisher Tiffani Pump is cute too!!! But I usually like a higher heal.

And talk about Bling, which I am all about!  These Kelly & Katie Maryrae pumps are adorable !

The good news is, they are all under $50, which, with my coupons, will make for a very frugal purchase!!

Here's to a fun-filled April Fool's Day!!

17 Fun Facts about April Fool's Day

Hello Folks!

Today is April Fools Day - but sadly I don't have any great pranks up my sleeve that I'll be pulling on anyone.

Who know's maybe it'll be me to be caught in a prank.

Anyhow we are off this morning to go pick up one of the kids friends (another choir member) and carpool with him to the performance at the Aquarium of the Pacific for International Children's Day.

This will be the Aquarium of the Pacific’s twelfth annual International Children’s Festival.
Celebrating the amazing talents of children of many cultures. West African, Mexican, Pacific Islander, Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Persian, Irish, Slovak, Czech dance and the International Peace Choir are among the children’s performances.

Kids of all ages can partake in a percussion circle, Japanese origami, Native American crafts, and Pacific Islander traditional children’s games.

During the event the Aquarium will also honor a local youth with its annual Young Hero Award in recognition of his or her efforts to make our planet a better place.

We should all do what ever we can in our best efforts to make our planet a better place!

Well I didn't quite accomplish as much as I thought I would yesterday - still need to switch out the summer for winter clothes.

But I did get me sweat on, and then a long IPC meeting which touched on the travel details of our summer trip with the choir.

I also am thrilled to be sharing my new addiction (LipSense) with more and more friends - who to no surprise whatsoever are also becoming addicted!
Picture
I kid you NOT that for just about every tube that I place an order for someone else - I end up buying a new color for myself! LOL

And now for the theme of the day here are:

17 Fun Filled Facts for April Fools Day

  1. April Fool’s Day was first known as “All Fool’s Day.”
  2. It is believed that the tradition began in France when the Gregorian calendar – introduced by Pope Gregory XIII – was adopted in the 16th century. People who still continued to celebrate New Year’s Day on April 1 instead of the new date which was January 1, were tricked and called “April fools”.
  3. The earliest recorded association between April 1, pranks and foolishness can be found in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales which was written in 1392.
  4. There are other theories of origin as well. Some believe that the custom evolved from the pre-historic Feast of Fools festival.
  5. Another festival that has its influence on April Fool’s Day is the ancient Roman festival of Hilaria, which marked the resurrection of the Roman god Attis and was celebrated with great fanfare.
  6. The holiday became mainstream in England in the 17th and 18th century.
  7. In England and Canada, interestingly, pranks are mostly permissible only during the first half of the day.
  8. In England, depending on where you live, instead of being called “fool” on April Fools’ Day, you could be called a “noodle,” “noddy,” “gobby” or “gob.”
  9. In Scotland, the day lasts two days where the victims of pranksters are called gowks (cuckoo birds) and the second day entails pranks involving the backside.
  10. Italy, Belgium, France, and Quebec, Canada often refer to April Fools' Day as April Fish. Part of this custom is to attach a paper fish to someone's back as a joke, without being noticed. This is referred to as 'Poisson d'Avril'.
  11. In Denmark April Fools is celebrated on May 1st and is called Maj-Kat.
  12. In Spanish speaking counties such as Spain and Mexico April Fools is celebrated on December 28th the Day of Holy Innocents.
  13. The 13th day of the Persian New Year known as Sizdah Bedar usually falls on April 1 or April 2 in Iran, and people have reportedly played pranks during this holiday since 536 B.C.
  14. The earliest recorded association between April 1, pranks and foolishness can be found in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales which was written in 1392.
  15. A Flemish April Fools’ tradition has children locking their parents or teachers from their homes/rooms, only letting them back in when they promise a treat.
  16. In Poland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway the media will often publish a story that is false in honor of April Fools' Day.
  17. In the United States, the pranks last all day, but in other countries they only take place until noon.
