Broadway Matinee Day

Yay!!! April is finally here!  Can you feel Spring in the air?  I think I can...finally!
Picture
Woke up to a beautiful, breezy, sunny day.
I'm so happy too, since I will be going into NYC today for matinee of the new Broadway plan, Skylight with Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan.

Not sure if you read my last Food Friday segment about Bond 45, (CLICK HERE) but it is now one of my favorites and I decided to have lunch there today.  HOWEVER - I could NOT get a reservation.

So, I decided to try an alternate - Pergola des Artists. Now because I waited till the last minute (shame on me!), I called early this morning and was forced to leave a message since this eatery is not set up with online reservation capability.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can accommodate us.

My theatre buddy today is my Aunt Ro.  She actually took me to my very first Broadway play - way back in the day, to see Grease during its debut run.

There are so many show openings this month - I don't think I will be able to keep up!  I posted this last week, but I figured since it's matinee day and I'm headed to see one that is just opening, why not post the list again.

TOO MUCH TO SEE!!
Picture
Today is the last day of school for the girls before beginning their Easter break.

It amazes me how different my kids are from each other. When it comes to Gianna and Kelsey, I've got Gianna who LOVES to travel and go different places with a sense of adventure.  Then there's Kelsey who is truly a homebody and does not enjoy it at all.

She asked me so apprehensively if we were going away for Easter break. When I responded with "No" you could not believe the relief in her face. LOL.  I do hope she will be okay with our upcoming trip to Yellowstone.  She keeps going back and forth as to whether she wants to come.  Oh well, we'll see.

I've got a busy morning - work out, make a few travel bookings and then get on a late morning train to head into NYC, so I better get this show on the road.

I'll see you back here tomorrow for Throwback Thursday - it's my turn to share this week!

Have fun today!!

Tanya's Daily Scoop

Calling all Pranksters!!

Good Day Everyone!
Picture
It's April Fools Day, and while I love a good joke, I'm also quite gullible and fall for these pranks all day long!

Then it got me wondering...what's the dealio with April Fools Day???

Which then led to...wait for it, wait for it...

15 Fun Facts for April Fools Day Around the World
  1. April Fool’s Day was first known as “All Fool’s Day.”
  2. It is believed that the tradition began in France when the Gregorian calendar – introduced by Pope Gregory XIII – was adopted in the 16th century. People who still continued to celebrate New Year’s Day on April 1 instead of the new date which was January 1, were tricked and called “April fools”.
  3. There are other theories of origin as well. Some believe that the custom evolved from the pre-historic Feast of Fools festival.
  4. Another festival that has its influence on April Fool’s Day is the ancient Roman festival of Hilaria, which marked the resurrection of the Roman god Attis and was celebrated with great fanfare.
  5. The holiday became mainstream in England in the 17th and 18th century.
  6. In England and Canada, interestingly, pranks are mostly permissible only during the first half of the day.
  7. In England, depending on where you live, instead of being called “fool” on April Fools’ Day, you could be called a “noodle,” “noddy,” “gobby” or “gob.”
  8. In Scotland, the day lasts two days where the victims of pranksters are called gowks (cuckoo birds) and the second day entails pranks involving the backside.
Picture
9.       Italy, Belgium, France, and Quebec, Canada often refer to April Fools' Day as April Fish. Part of this custom is to attach a paper fish to someone's back as a joke, without being noticed. This is referred to as 'Poisson d'Avril'.
10.       In Denmark April Fools is celebrated on May 1st and is called Maj-Kat.
11.       In Spanish speaking counties such as Spain and Mexico April Fools is celebrated on December 28th the Day of Holy Innocents.
12.       The 13th day of the Persian New Year known as Sizdah Bedar usually falls on April 1 or April 2 in Iran, and people have reportedly played pranks during this holiday since 536 B.C.
13.       The earliest recorded association between April 1, pranks and foolishness can be found in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales which was written in 1392.
14.       A Flemish April Fools’ tradition has children locking their parents or teachers from their homes/rooms, only letting them back in when they promise a treat.
15.       In Poland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway the media will often publish a story that is false in honor of April Fools' Day.

There ya have it - now go have some fun with it!

And just a quick update...better known as SCOOP:

Yesterday was just a normal day here home on the range - had lots to catch up on and errands to run. Dominic had his classes (of which I always try to watch).
Well, I got awfully sleepy and was dozing off in his class - such a sleepy head!
Hopefully that doesn't happen to me again tonight!

I started a 100 day Fitness Challenge this morning -
100 Jumping Jacks
100 Sit ups
100 Push ups

Everyday for 100 days!
Who wants to join me???

I've also got a big chore ahead of me today - switching out the winter for summer wardrobe!

Of course I'll leave out the items that need to be packed for our Cousins Yellowstone Road Trip where the temps should be between 26F - 49F;
And that'll most likely be the last of the chill in the air that we'll feel until our winter trips for next year begin!

That about does it for now.
Hope you have a great day and don't get too fooled!
