A Quick Trip to San Francisco Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY IN: ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Hello there and welcome back! So we made it to another weekend. It was actually a rather gloomy morning in SoCal. June Gloom was promptly on schedule. HOLY SMOKES - it's already June! I'm coming at you from the road (not from behind the wheel - I'm not that talented or that stupid!). We are currently on our way up to San Francisco. Heading up on the 6+ hour drive for the second time this week - but this time it's all in the name of fun! The main focus being going to Oracle Park (tonight and tomorrow afternoon) to watch the SF Giants play the NY Yankees. I managed to watch the game last night on MLB.TV and I must say that it was pretty exciting, especially since the Yankees won, but also just to see the stadium - which is one of the most picturesque, sitting on the SF Bay. It is a fan favorite amongst the 30 MLB baseball stadiums across North America. And it's been about 5 years since I've been there - which is a long time for me. I guess you can say that it's been a week-full of baseball. Last Saturday we were in San Diego to watch the Yankees play the Padres. And then on both Tuesday and Thursday we were at Anaheim Stadium to watch the Yankees play the Angels. I guess I'm a little baseball crazed. lol While sitting at the pool yesterday, I was chatting with Chaplin and Jet talking about travels and plans to book Hawaii. I'm going to Oahu in Sept. but also planning a trip to Maui & the Big Island for early Winter. Apparently Chaplin does not like Hawaii in the Winter... she would prefer if I booked outside of the Winter. And as much as I'd like to make everyone happy. I can't always do that. My calendar is already pretty booked up. My dear little travel lover Chaplin (13 yo niece) had asked what other trips I have pre-loaded in my 2025 calendar - then she added a disclosure - what other trips that are not ski trips, baseball trips or cruises! lol What stumps me is that she doesn't like Hawaii in the Winter! Last time we were in Hawaii - Kauai was the chosen island and it was the first time my mom went to any of the Hawaiian Islands. It was a huge shock that she had decided to join us on this trip. The other pretty big surprise is that Jet and Andrew decided that while on this vacation to paradise that they were going to tie the knot! Now please sit back, relax and enjoy a mini photo slideshow from my Feb '23 trip to Kauai. As always, I wish you a wonderful holiday and I'll be back here on Monday with more Daily Scoop. Ciao 4 Now, Travelin' Tanya | Heading to Lancaster, Pennsylvania Elisa's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY IN: LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK Howdy folks!! Well, it's Tuesday, but it feels like Saturday. This weekend was a bit of a whirlwind since Kelsey's high school graduation was on Sunday, and we were leaving for Pennsylvania today, I had so many things to do to prepare for both. I also had to get everything ready for the pets with boarding and pet sitters. It still feels surreal that my youngest, my baby, is a high school graduate. I think it's going to take some time for it to really sink in. The graduation ceremony was lovely and lucky enough, we had such good weather. It was me, Gianna and my mom at the graduation. When they called her name to receive her diploma, the cheering that came from us sounded a lot louder than 3 small women!! Since the graduation was three hours long because of the size of the graduating class, we were all pretty famished when it ended. Thank goodness, i had calculated the time correctly and were right on time for our 5:30 dinner reservation at Uncle Bacala's Italian Seafood and More. This restaurant was Kelsey's choice! Now, you pretty much know by now that like Tanya, I'm a HUGE foodie and make sure my meals are well documented with photos and detailed descriptions of the experience. Well, unfortunately, we had a little snafu during dinner because as we received our appetizers, a soda was accidentally spilled all over the table and wound up drenching Gianna as it toppled in her direction. I went with her to the ladies room to help her dry off and by the time we came back to the table, I was a bit discombobulated and literally forgot to take any photos - of the food ... and of us!! UGH! Now, I'm not going to say who spilled the drink but let me just say that neither me, nor Gianna, nor Kelsey drink soda. lol We had a variety of appetizers, which included a Cesar salad, potato croquettes and crostini. For our main courses I had a rigatoni marinara with broccoli , mom and Gianna both had rigatoni a la vodka and Kelsey had chicken Milanese. Each one of us had leftovers to bring home!! Deelish-ious meal! While my "baby" cousin Tanya was off enjoying baseball fun, I was getting ready to go away for a few days on a mini vacay to Lancaster, Pennsylvania - home of the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish. We took off this morning and I have to say, this was the first trip that I had to board my beloved dog, Punkin that I felt SOO GUILTY! As she's gotten older, and I started working from home she and I are never apart! I take her to run my errands, we have our walks together, we eat breakfast together - so now that she is 8 years old, she's set in her ways. So this morning when I dropped her off at dog boarding, she looked so sad. She was literally clinging on to Gianna. I just felt so bad for my fur baby. Anyway, I just hope she settled in as the day went on. After I got through that trauma of abandoning my Punkin, we headed off to pick up my mom and hit the road . Our itinerary for today looked like this:
We walked around the area and took some photos together. I'll post the photos tomorrow as I need to upload them from my camera.
Here's some highlights: We had a lovely lunch at Martine's Riverhouse - delicious salads! And the weather was just beautiful - perfect temperature with a gorgeous view! After lunch, we walked around the town, took some pictures and enjoyed the surroundings. We continued driving after our New Hope stroll and stopped a bit up the road to see Washington Crossing Historic Park. My daughter Gianna took a hike around the grounds of the bed and breakfast we are staying at in Lancaster: Today we are off to Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA - going to do some local shopping and then have a smorgasbord lunch, for which the Amish are famous!! More pictures and details to come!! See you soon! -Travelin' Elisa |
