Bronx Neighborhood Named One of America’s Nicest Places
Is it Wednesday already?
This week is flying by for me. The kids have had a number of school activities this week and tonight is yet another one. Kelsey was asked to volunteer and be a "ambassador" at her school's middle school open house this evening. These events are great since they allow her to build up service hours required for her Confirmation next year. As for me, I've been busy packing the past three days and today I had the pleasure of visiting my soon-to-be new house with my contractor!!! So very exciting! We went through the house, with my list of to do's (all typed up, I might add) for each and every part of the house. I am a huge fan of getting it all done at once so that we can just enjoy the home going forward. I'll be doing a before and after and a daily log of everything that is being done as we start the job after we go to closing. How cool is it that Tanya connected through Moscow!! Speaking of a little closer to home, here in New York, the town of Harding Park in The Bronx, was named one of the "Nicest Places in America!"
It just warms my heart to read positive stories about the local New York City area!
According to the Bronx Times, Reader’s Digest selected Harding Park as one of the ‘Nicest Places in America.’ The list by the fourth biggest magazine in the country takes one locale from each state to uncover respectful and kind communities. The BX Times says that Harding Park was selected because of a strong sense of community: neighbors look out for one another and there are often ever day acts of civility and kindness between residents. Reader’s Digest received over 1,000 submissions of nominations. After fact-checking and research, they created a narrative which explained their choice in hopes of bringing Americans together. For example, the BX Times said Lydia Clark-Sumpter, a resident of Harding Park since 2016, hosts an annual BBQ party with neighborhood friends and family. She plans to celebrate Harding Park’s 100th birthday next year with hosting her regular BBQ with the neighborhood.
