Planes, Trains, Automobiles and old Friends
After flying to the east coast (approx 2,800 miles), driving all over the east coast (1,900 more miles), taking the choo choo train to Chicago (another 800ish miles) and walking all over the place yesterday (somewhere around 9+ miles) we were a bit sleepy last night!
Cosette had already been tired and her feet were hurting from all of the walking. I think we both have pending blisters. Once her head hit the pillow - she was expecting to do some reading and immediately zonked out!
I wasn't too far behind. But it's all the traveling has been worth it.
I was so excited and truly stoked to be back in Chicago!!!
Our day had started on with us waking up on the train. It had been a very comfortable and nice ride on the Capitol Limited Line.
Cosette had already been tired and her feet were hurting from all of the walking. I think we both have pending blisters. Once her head hit the pillow - she was expecting to do some reading and immediately zonked out!

Our only gripe were the 3 rather rude young woman (in their late teens - early 20's) who were obviously never taught to be courteous of others.
They were the type who you could hear throughout the car and know their entire conversation...even at midnight while people are sleeping around them.
Seriously what is wrong with some people?!
It was a pleasure to see them be reprimanded by the conductor!!

We had arrived at the stroke of 9am, gathered our belongings and headed to baggage claim and then to grab a taxi.
At this point I was quite eager to get on out there on foot and begin exploring!
Once we arrived at our hotel we were checked in by a gal of whom I had many previous conversations with over the phone (with all the complications to do with the trip changes, refunds, adding nights, etc).
We unloaded in our room and did a quick turn around, freshening up and getting on out there!

The first stop was definitely gonna be the famed Chicago Diner to eat and of course have some of their amazing shakes (which both vegans and non-vegan go there for) and where my dear friend and once upon a time to be travel buddy Priscilla.

We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering the city and taking in the cityscapes and tourist photo ops!

Once the evening had approached it was time to make a few decisions...1) Go catch the White Sox vs Yankees game 2) Watch the Fireworks show from Navy Pier 3) Eat dinner.
Now why oh why couldn't we do all 3, or at least 2???
Well the game started at 7:05p across town. The fireworks (only on Wednesday night and Saturday night) were at 9:30p. And for some reason the restaurants that we were interested in all closed at 10pm.

So Cosette and I opted to walk around until the fireworks and Priscilla was tired and went home (outskirts of Chicago).

We eventually made our way back to our hotel and gave our tootsies a much needed break!
