We finally found the Seagull!

Hey there!

Today is my last day here up in Lake Tahoe. We've had a quite lovely trip and yesterday was no different...

We made our way to the slopes just in the nick of time to snag the last parking "spot" available up at the Stagecoach Lodge.    I was more than a bit concerned about this and about the weekend crowds that I saw lining up at the ticket lines. Ugh

And you have no idea how exhausted I am of skiing around newbies and people who "think" they know how to ski or ride (a snowboard).

I'm sorry if I am coming off like a snob, and I certainly don't mean the children who are out there learning a new ability.      I am talking about the uncoordinated adults who should stay on the bunny hills or green runs until able to handle more without being a danger to the rest of us.  
They really make me wonder if they are involved in any other type of sports or physical activity.

I personally think that there should be a graduation system in place and if you haven't passed with FLYING COLORS than you will not to be allowed admittance to the upper slopes.      But I suppose the resorts would lose tons of moola if something like this were to be implemented.

I mean if they honestly don't even know how the lift lines work or how to ride a chair lift, and certainly don't know how to ski.
Why oh why are they putting themselves and us at risk?!
It's seriously like or worse than being out on the road with a bunch of really bad drivers (who need to have their licenses pulled)! 
Okay okay, I'm moving on.

So, after being so fortunate to be given the last "spot" in the already FULL LOT, I was ready to jump out of the car and hug the parking attendant! LOL

I was really eager to get on the mountain!!
Once our gear was all on and Cosette, Dave and myself were scanned, we were ready to hop on the lift, when all of a sudden we realize that Dominic isn't being scanned and it is holding up the line. I was wondering wth is going on???

Well it so happens that Mr. Dominic forget his pass in the room!

Dave sent me a text "somebody forgot his pass!"

I was so beyond frustrated! The lift line was growing and now I had to head over to guest services with him to get him a replacement pass!

It's not that I forgot to tell the kids to put on their passes before we left - it's that my dear son was dilly dallying and more interested in playing a game on his iPod. SMH

Take two, once we got the new pass, we were ready to start for real this time. And up we went.

Soon finding out that the conditions on the slopes was amazing!     I couldn't believe it!
​After the first run, Dave had even noted how much fun it was and how it was the most fun he's had ALL SEASON!!!

So run after run we did, having a grand time, and not really seeing too much of the crowds - or at least we managed to stay away from them for the most part.
But I guess the "most part" was still not enough for me...hence my little venting session above.

For those of you that aren't skiers, and for those of you that haven't skied at the Vail Resorts. They have a system in place with an interactive app and all.
Including photographers on some of the most picturesque spots on the mountain ready to take your group picture.

Well let me tell ya that I love this and have found tons of photos over the years that will be cherished forever.

But some of the photographers aren't really personable or all that great at their job - which can produce a lame photo (those of which I do not post).
However when you find a photographer who knows what he/she is doing and has a great attitude, this makes a world of a difference!       We have found this photographer at Heavenly, and he goes by the nick-name of The Seagull.
He is awesome and quite hilarious.
We've been looking for him all week long, and were so excited to have finally found him yesterday!!

​If you are ever at Heavenly and you KNOW how to ski - go and look for him. You won't even have to ask how he got the nick-name. You will just know!!!
*When he laughs, he sounds like a Seagull.

After lunch, Cosette had quit for the day and Dave C. came by to pick her up and take her back to the condo. ​

The rest of us continued to enjoy the slopes until almost the last run, but this is when Dominic was ready to end it.
Neither Dave B nor I really understand how or why these kids can quit before the last run?!
But since I don't want to burn them out, if they want to quite after the second to last run - I'm okaaaay with that.

Anyhoo, after a short Hot Cocoa break back at the condo if was time to go play Tennis and Basketball, have dinner, and watch a DVD - The Imitation Game.

Oh btw - Dave is no longer allowed to pack for himself!

I was happy to catch a beautiful sunrise this morning and we are soon heading off to Northstar for more skiing!

Bagels & Screening at Museum of City of New York

Howdy Folks!

A beautiful Sunny Sunday here on Long Island.

Today, I'll be heading into Manhattan to the Museum of the City of New York.  I'm so happy this day is finally here.  

I purchased the tickets for today a while ago and it's finally time to go!! 

Let me tell you a bit about this museum... 

Located on Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street, the Museum of the City of New York was founded by Henry Collins Brown, in 1923 to preserve and present the history of New York City, and its people.

Over the course of 80 years, the museum has acquired and cataloged Prints, Drawings, and Photographs; Costumes and Textiles; Manuscripts and Ephemera; Furniture and Decorative Arts; Paintings and Sculpture; and Theater reviews from the great city of New York.

In its own words, 
"The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation."

Today, I've got tickets to the "New York Breakfast" at the museum, which entitles early-bird visitors to a cup of coffee and one of New York's favorite bagels from H&H Midtown Bagels East.

I'll be catching an exclusive screening of Timescapes, a 22-minute film that reveals how New York became New York from a settlement of a few hundred Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans to its present status as one of the world’s great cities. 

There are a number of other current exhibits which I'm planning to see, all of which I'll tell you about in tomorrow's blog!

​Bringing my camera, so I'll be snapping away!!

Yesterday, we spent the afternoon out east so the girls could ride.  We usually stay a full day, but considering I was still on the mend from my cold, we only did a half day.

In fact, I didn't even spend time in the arena or the stables. On cold days when the arena doors are closed, it gets very dusty, so I didn't want to irritate my already itchy throat and stuffy nose.

I spent the majority of the afternoon in Riverhead at the Tanger Outlets.  Just walking around, having a delicious smoothie and enjoying the sunshine.

When we got home, I went for my mani/pedi.  I decided to go for a nice pink with a bit of bling!

Kelsey also enjoyed a nice relaxing pedicure.  She just loves the foot and leg massage you get!  She's definitely my little girl when it comes to being pampered.

Well folks, this is a short one as I have to be in the city pretty early today!!
