NYC or bust
Howdy-do!! And welcome to hump day! Well, let me first start with yesterday. Tanya and I had the highest of hopes to meet up yesterday and spend some time together prior to her and the gang getting on the road to New Hampshire.
Unfortunately, timing did not work out between the errands Tanya had to do and the time we needed to leave to get to The Planetarium at the Vanderbilt Museum. So, needless to say, "the cousins" have not made contact yet. :-(
On a positive note, I did have a wonderful day at the Vanderbilt Museum with Kelsey and Julian! We caught two shows at the Planetarium and walked the grounds. Having some time in between the two shows, we paid a visit to the museum - the former residence of William K. Vanderbilt II. Thought you'd get a kick out the kids rolling down the hills of this magnificent estate's grounds. I will be writing all about this lovely Long Island attraction and posting later this week in both our Travel Blog and Long Island Area Travel pages.
As for today, I'm headed into NYC to see Best Musical for 2014, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder with my Mom and her friend Irene. Following the show, we will grab dinner together before heading back to Long Island. I'm hoping it turns out to be a sunny day. Right now as of this writing, it's very gloomy and cloudy outside.
See ya back here tomorrow!
Have a magnificent day!!
It's a good day to have a GREAT day!
Greetings from Lake Winnipesaukee! We had a bit of a road trip yesterday and drove up from Queens, NY to the lakes region in NH.
As Elisa had noted, yesterday got a bit off schedule and our connecting with Elisa and the kiddos, as well as stopping at Dun-Well donuts got put off until next week. We were all bummed. But each of us still managed to have a wonderful day regardless!
The drive up through Connecticut and Massachusetts and into New Hampshire was lovely. The kids managed to sleep most of the way, and I just trucked along with minimal stops. As usual, our plan was to stop off in Concord at a quaint little vegan bakery/cafe 'Cafe Indigo', but I found out that they have closed for good. Not leaving us many other vegan options up in NH.
Happily, I also found out that although they closed their door as a bakery/cafe, that they still send their offerings to some local markets; Concord Co op being one of them. So with a slight detour that is exactly where I headed. While we were still about an hour and a half out from Concord as we were listening to some tunes on the radio, we heard an emergency broadcast for (get this) - a TORNADO! Are you kidding me?! I'm not in Kansas anymore...
Well, obviously we made it to Concord alive, through the heavy storm and never seeing the mentioned tornado. I took a little side trip to see the Capital Building and replica of the Liberty Bell (which we've been to and will be seeing again in a couple of weeks). I thought "wow, how fun!" Dave C. and the kids weren't exactly in agreeance with my idea of fun and at first they didn't even want to get out of the car! BORING! Then Dave C. had even poked fun at me, saying that seeing the Capital Building and getting excited by a bell is fun for an old lady!!!
Well, I managed through much laughter to get them into the groove and join me in my little old lady type of fun! The kids even got another pretty good laugh at the fake crack in the bell!
After picking up some dinner and goodies we continued to the resort and then to visit some cousins staying at a nearby rental property. I got to finally meet my very adorable 8 month old baby cousin 'Ethan' and we all had a great evening!
It had really came down last night and there was also an great lightening show over the lake that was enjoyed by all. Great memories overall. What a fantastic day!
I'm still in our hotel room, watching the rest of my gang sleep! Jet Lag has hit! Anyhow, I'll be getting them up soon and we'll be heading over to see the cousins again for more good times!
Hope you have a great day in however you choose to spend it!
Catch ya tomorrow,
