Yak & Yeti - An Asian Delight in Disney's Animal Kingdom

For as long as I have been going to to Disney World, Yak & Yeti has been one of my absolute favorite restaurants!  Located in Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti is easily accessible upon entering the park, past Discovery Island, at the beginning of "Asia."

Filled with authentic artifacts and decor from the Orient, the atmosphere has an exotic flare, which is complemented by the soft, muted green, gold and red tones throughout this Asian-inspired restaurant.

The menu is comprised of an eclectic variety of appetizers and entrees, many of which are creative twists on traditional Asian-menu favorites.  Although my gang was using the Disney Dining Plan, the prices at Yak & Yeti are very reasonable, not only for Disney standards, but, for eating out in general.

I have my favorites here, I'll admit, and while I do enjoy trying new things as a general rule, I find it difficult to NOT order my usuals when I come back each time since it can be years between visits.

I just love the Wok-Fried Green Beans which I order each and every time I dine here!  They are quite addicting too, served with a sweet Thai chili dipping sauce.  It was the first time Gianna tasted them, and once she started, she couldn't stop!

Of course, there are the more popular options as well such as Wonton soup, which both Tedd and Gianna opted for as their appetizer.  It was served with crispy fried wontons on the side, which were light and not at all greasy.

Kelsey, a big fan of fried wonton noodles didn't waste a minute stealing some from Tedd's plate and munched away!

When it came to time for ordering a main course, I had to go with my prevailing favorite dish - Crispy Honey Chicken.  As many of you know I'm a "mostly" vegetarian and usually shy away from meat or poultry. However, I've always so enjoyed this dish, that I love ordering it over and over again.  This time, Gianna ordered it too!

It had a light batter coating, lightly fried and combined with a red peppers, broccoli and carrots in a light and sweet, honey sauce.  Combined with the rice, this dish is just so delectable!!

Kelsey chose to order off of the kids menu, having chicken strips and french fries.  The fries here were skinny, crispy and crunchy! (I stole a few just to "test" them).

The Kalbi Steak and Coconut Shrimp that Tedd ordered was plated and presented just beautifully. Grilled marinated flat iron steak with pineapple salsa along with coconut shrimp served with a chili plum sauce and wasabi mashed potatoes.  There was also a side of stir-fried vegetable that accompanied this dish. The fact that the plate was completely clean at the the end of his meal, gave me a pretty good indication that it was a great choice!  Priced at less than $30 for this dish, it was one of the most expensive items on the menu, which I found quite reasonable.

So, let's talk about dessert! Lots of sweet options! Last time we were here, we all ordered the Fried Wontons  which are served with skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, with vanilla ice cream and a honey-vanilla drizzle. However, all of us were so full from our appetizers and entrees this visit, that we opted for Sorbet - a lighter option of three tangy flavors - raspberry, lemon and mango.  I have to say, the mango was my favorite - smooth, tangy and refreshing!

Yak & Yeti is not to be missed if you venture into Animal Kingdom.  It's hands-down my favorite eatery in this particular Disney park!
