Located in the Letna section of Prague or "Prague 7", this delightful little eatery is quite deceiving from the entrance. What looks like a small counter joint, is really quite an expansive space that opens up to a lovely outdoor garden and seating area.
My friends were in a hot beverage sort of mood, settling on an espresso and cappuccino, while my sweet tooth got the best of me and I went full force for the Pistachio ice cream!!
What could be better on a hot summer day! I was rather tunnel visioned with dessert on my mind when walking in, but as I entered this homey, old school, kitchen-style bistro, I perked up to the full array of prepared food items in the showcase and countertop.
The menu is an array of vegetarian and vegan offerings that include egg dishes, salads, soups, strudel and desserts. This is a good time to mention how impressed I was, while in Prague at the array of eating establishments that cater to the non-meat eating crowd.
In fact, the recipes here come from the loving kitchens of their mothers', which are simple and homemade vegetarian meals "sprinkled with elements of international cuisine" according to their website.
Their mission is to support local growers, many of which they enjoy personal relationships with and a strong commitment to serve only natural and healthy fare. And if that is not enough, Kidó also offers catering services, as well as custom cakes and pies.
The Espresso was flavorful according to my friend Carlos, and that is why he regularly frequents Kidó. As for Tanya, being a vegan, she was pleased as punch to be accommodated with a Cappuccino made with soy milk.
