Like visiting an old friend we showed up for a much anticipated dinner on our way out of town.
With so many new places opening up left and right for me to still go and try and with all of the old stand by favorites to continue returning to it leaves for a very booked eating schedule…
Especially when I’m traveling at least 20 weeks out of the year and do my own home cookin’ almost every night of the week (when we are home and also on certain trips that I happen to book a condo for - I do this in the cities without a very good offering of vegan cafes).
After all of that, If we calculate what’s left available…it isn’t much.
But a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do - so let's EAT!
We walked in and it was slightly little different than we remembered it on our last visit. But still the same.
We were handed menus, we flipped them open, and quickly took notice that the menu had changed...
There were bunches of new, fun, and exciting foods to try! And a few older items taken off.
Out with the old and in with the new?!

There were new tables, and a few booths added. Surprisingly it was fairly quiet, we were seated (right across from the dessert case - SCORE!) everyone there was gawking in our direction...I thought they might've recognized me from being Famous in Peru (inside joke).

I thought I knew what I wanted prior to arriving, but then I saw a Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich - chicken Cordon Bleu was a favorite of mine before going meatless. And there were so many delightful sounding tidbits that we were all carefully deciding what would fill our table.
When the server came by to take our order we all knew that first off we would have the Dinosaur Egg - a famous off-menu special that we need each and every visit. However we were told that they can no longer make the dinosaur egg - we gasped, and nearly came to tears. But we still needed to eat, so I pulled though and placed our order of Animal Fries, Fried Shrimp, Big Ol Chop Salad, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Dave and Cosette had the Fried Chicken Basket, and Dominic went with the BIG MAC!
My sandwich wasn't as good as I was hoping for. The fried chicken baskets are always a winner and probably what put Doomie's on the map!
The BIG MAC was BIG and quite tasty. It definitely hit the spot! Because really, who needs McD's you know who!
And if that was enough, we could resist dessert and placed an order to go...
By this time of the evening, the diner was busting at the seams and I really don't know how the servers were keeping everything under control and in order. But they did!
We don't eat like this all the time, but it sure is fun to indulge when we do.
If you haven't tried Doomie's yet - I'm not sure what's taking you so long! Ditch the diet and do it!
Get back on the wagon and back to the diet tomorrow!
It’s so darn exciting and catching like wildfire! Heck after 26 years of being a vegetarian, and 9 of those a vegan - it’s about damn time!
