Conveniently located on 47th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue, this Italian eatery cannot be missed with its prominent red sign and awning.
My latest dining experience at Scarlatto was a pre-theatre dinner with my daughter Kelsey. A special "mommy & me" night to see An American in Paris, I knew with all certainty that Italian would be the food of choice for my little girl.
I couldn't have been more thrilled when I realized just how close the Palace Theatre was to Scarlatto and as usual, our meal was "s'wonderful" (a little Gershwin humor).

Providing these three components, as Scarlatto has done for over a decade, has made it one of my favorite places to eat.
The atmosphere is eclectic with an element of cozy from the welcoming bar to its homey fireplace and rustic brick walls with black and white stills of the movie classic Roman Holiday scattered throughout.

This is probably a good time to emphasize the fact that I eat a great deal of Italian food; at a great many Italian restaurants and as someone of Italian descent, I'm very discerning about my Italian food.
But, make no mistake, I was completely gratified with my latest meal at Scarlatto.
To start, we shared the Fried Calamari and Crispy Zucchini. Not the slightest bit greasy and cooked to perfection, this appetizer was just right for two. The zucchini was, as Kelsey put it, more like zucchini chips as they were light and crunchy. Coupled with a Hot Pepper Tomato Sauce, we managed to gobble these down pretty quickly!
This was, by far, the best pumpkin ravioli I have ever tasted! My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish! Moving on to the spaghetti, it was superb! Cooked al dente with an excellent bite, and covered in an exquisitely smooth tasting tomato sauce, I managed to eat more than a tasting.
An all around Yummy meal!!
I only have one regret about my evening and that is, we did not have enough time to have dessert. We were running a bit late from hitting traffic into the city, and therefore, had to forego, what looked like some awesome after dinner sweets.
Till the next time, thanks Scarlatta for another hit meal!!
