Lunch at The Farm in Prague

My first trip to Europe with my vegan Travelin' Cousin, Tanya was actually more fun when it came to eating than I had imagined. Finding interesting and unique eateries that normally would NOT be on my radar, proved adventurous.

Take for instance, a tasty lunch at The Farm, a casual and laid back little eatery in the Letna section of Prague. This was not only a breath of fresh air from the usual touristy restaurants we had encountered during our stay, but the food offerings made it a great choice for vegan, non-vegan and meat-eaters - all of which were in our party.

Committed to introducing Tanya and I to the "local" side of Prague, our friend Carlos, (a Portuguese ex-pat living in Prague), couldn't have picked a better lunch choice for us to do just that.  Admittedly, one of his favorite eating spots, it didn't take long to see why.

Decor-wise, it was plain and simple, with muted gray walls accented with natural wood tone tables a mixture of chair styles and colors.  Large, wall-sized black chalk boards throughout the main dining area and the hallway leading out to the backyard terrace underscore the unpretentious and easy going atmosphere of The Farm.

After some research, I found out that the owner, Lucie
designed her restaurant with an eco-friendly mindset. She actually made all of the tables with the help of her friends!  Whatever she did, she did well, because the plain and simple approach is very  aesthetically pleasing!

So, let's talk food!  Our little trio consisted of a vegan (Tanya), a "mostly-vegetarian" (me) and someone with no food restrictions (Carlos) and this menu was the perfect combination of offerings to accommodate us.

Their diverse, all-natural, "farm fresh" menu includes an array of drinks and coffees, an all-day brunch, as well as salads, sandwiches, burgers and hot dishes.  A showcase full of sweets, rounds out the array of food options to satisfy any foodie!

Lunch choices for our hungry crew was a virtual cross-section of the menu.  Carlos had strongly recommended the Club Sandwich to me. Now, as many of you know, I will eat chicken on occasion. This sandwich would be one of those.

Filled with chicken, cheese and bacon (I gave the bacon to Carlos), on white toast, it was very tasty, just as Carlos had assured me.  The small side salad of delicate greens, was dressed in a sweet, refreshing
vinaigrette.

Vegetable cous cous
I tasted Tanya's Vegetable cous cous, which was, vegan of course and it was scrumptious.  I am a sucker for grains, so it was a toss up between this dish and the club sandwich.

Carlos did not leave anything on his plate, so I suppose that spoke for itself in terms of his enjoying his meal!

Interesting to note, The Farm also has some gluten-free options, which is fairly rare in Prague.
All of their produce is fresh and purchased daily from a farmer's market so their menu offerings are based on what is seasonably available and fresh.

Last, but not least, the service at The Farm was wonderful.  Very attentive and friendly.

Overall, I highly recommend leaving the comforts of the Old Town and nearby tourist areas, to visit The Farm in the trendy Bubenič area.
