On my recent jaunt to Broadway to see The Audience at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on West 45th, I made dinner reservations at nearby Bond 45, two blocks east of the theatre.
Situated in the the heart of the theater district, this eatery is a convenient dining destination to a a multitude of theaters.
Perusing the menu before booking a reservation, I was impressed with the food variety offered. A cross-section of ethnic Italian favorites, assorted chops and carnivorous options, and a range of seafood dishes made it quite appealing. But, what really piqued my interest was their "Vegetarian Extravaganza."
My mind was pretty well made up about what to order before even arriving at Bond 45.
Clearly a selection of 3 items from this extensive Antipasto table which included Baked Tuscan Kale and Cannellini Beans; Zucchini Parmesan and Fava Beans and Pecorino Cheese Toscano. Additionally, I couldn't resist trying the House Specialty, Roman Fried Artichokes Alla Giudea. These were fabulous, as were the other appetizers!!
I was all over one dish in particular, for my main course, the Pesto Ravioli Grandi Alla Brando. The Ravioli was filled with ricotta, arugula, spinach and pecorino. Usually, I find pesto sauces very heavy, but this was rather light and so very tasty! I'm happy to report that my dear cousin, Tanya would have faired well with the "Vegetarian Veal Parmigiana" made from seitan.
There was a little disappointment on my part that Bond's Signature Crust Pizza was only available after 8pm. With options that included classic Margherita with burrata mozzarella as well as Homemade fennel sausage and Roasted Peppers, I would have enjoyed trying one!
Dessert was a must even though I could not finish my Ravioli!! I ordered a selection of sorbets and ice cream - raspberry, vanilla and pistachio. The perfect way to end the meal.
The atmosphere at Bond is just right for a romantic evening or a fun family or friends night out.
It's on my new list of New York favorites!!
