Favored with a unique and diverse terrain, India boasts of one of the most unique flora and fauna in the world. An enchanting Peninsula of lush green plains, pristine waterbodies, majestic mountain ranges and ethereal plateaus and deserts, India is undeniably a land of bewitching beauty. There are more than a hundred national parks in the country that offers wildlife enthusiasts a tryst with the unpredictable exotic wild. Here is a list of national parks in India that would simply make you spellbound with their picturesque landscape and breathtaking views.

1. Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand

One of the oldest national parks to be established in India, Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand enjoys a popularity unrivaled by others. It is a favorite spot for tourists looking to spot the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. The park is separated into four zones spread over an area of more than 500 square kilometers, making it one largest national parks in the country. Interspersed with lush green plains and hilly ridges, it has a rich biodiversity that would enthrall any wildlife lover. Its diverse habitats are home to varied flora and fauna including deer, leopards, bears and several migratory birds. Corbett National Park also offers adventure activities like trekking, rock climbing, rafting etc. Trekking through the colossal forests in close communion with the untamed nature is an entrancing experience in itself. 2. Gir National Park, Gujarat

The sole habitat of the majestic Asiatic lions, Gir National Park in Gujarat has a beauty and charm of its own. Thick and undisturbed tracts of jungles and thickets are an ideal habitat for animals and birds like spotted deer, sambar, antelopes, leopards, Asiatic Ass, chital, black buck, vultures, eagles, pythons, crocodiles, etc. This large stretch of unmatched wilderness offers the fascinating combination of action, fun and joy to all visitors. A jeep Safari in the wide jungle watching the royal kings in their natural abode from the open roof is an altogether mesmerizing and unparalleled experience. 3. Kaziranga National Park, Assam

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Kaziranga National Park is popularly called the home of the ‘Big Five’ as it is the perfect place to spot the famed One-horned Rhinoceros, Tiger, Elephant, wild Buffalo and Swamp deer. It is also home of several migratory birds from different parts of the globe, making it an ornithologist’s paradise. Exploring the vista of stretches of elephant grass, thick tropical forests, rugged reeds and savanna woodlands where the wild roams fearlessly thrills your heart with an inexplicable excitement. Carpets of lotus, water hyacinth and other aquatic flowers add to the beauty of a place where nature reveals its pristine hues in myriad forms. But it is the enigmatic Brahmaputra meandering through the park that arrests your soul and captures your heart. 4. Sundarbans National Park, West Bengal

Sundarbans, the world’s largest estuarine forest and delta offers a spellbinding experience of gliding in a boat through creaks and rivulets surrounded by signature mangrove forests. Sunderbans National Park is also a Tiger Reserve, UNESCO World Heritage site and a Biosphere reserve. Existing on the delta formed by the rivers Ganges and Brahmaputra, the tributaries of these rivers flowing through the park make it perfect for boating. In fact, the only way to go through the park is water safari. It has the world’s single largest tiger population which have acclimatized to an almost amphibian existence, swimming in the waters and often feeding on aquatic animals. Sometimes one could site the thrilling spectacle of tigers sunbathing on river banks. Apart from tiger, Sunderbans is also home to leopards, wild boars, saltwater crocodiles, Ganges river dolphins, and different local and migratory birds. One can simply soak in the serene ambience of Sunderbans to feel the essence of true heavenly bliss.


5. Bandipur National Park, Karnataka

Situated in the bosom of an extensive dense forest where the ancient, rugged Deccan plateau meets the towering hills of the Western Ghats, Bandipur National Park in Karnataka fulfills all expectations of picturesque landscapes and the alluring wild. Flanked and watered by the rivers Kabini, Moyar and Nugu, the park supports a variety of biomes like dry and moist deciduous forests and shrub lands that shelter diverse organisms like elephants, chital, antelopes, tigers, sloth bears, spectacle cobra, vultures, kingfishers and eagles. The lush green foliage and abundant wildlife would give you a memorable glimpse of nature at its best
