as well as a little Cosette history (her-story):
Each and every time that I do a trip that might be without the kids, there is usually
some backpacking or trekking that Cosette would just not be happy about, and in
addition I usually like to check certain places out before I would take my kids (just
in case I might be uncertain about any safety issues).
Soooo for most of my travels I bring food "rations" and depending on where I might be going I might not need to use most of these "rations".
Many times these "rations" include vegan protein powders to mix with either "milk" or juice.
And each and every time Cosette sees me buy these protein powders she gets super duper jealous! Claiming that I always get the "GOOD" stuff, and that I'm so lucky,
it's so unfair!
Well prior to us leaving for Switzerland, I went shopping and picked up enough
"rations" for all of us. Including plenty of the vegan protein powders.
Cosette had helped me shop and was so excited to pick out her flavors and to finally be a part of having this special "treat".
"wonderful" shakes...
Well, on this 3 week trip and after only a few days of our lunches being limited to
these "rations" Cosette was already quite sick and tired, and "grossed out" by
these shakes!
The very same shakes that she felt left out of not having, the same shakes that she thought were going to be a huge treat.
Now she hated them and insisted that she'd rather go hungry than to EVER
consume them again!
satisfy a sweet tooth.
These options do become boring and so anytime we find a health food store and are lucky enough to find something "new" and different.
We get totally excited by the thought of eating something new, and if it is a sweet
"treat" then the excitement levels are even higher!
While in Lugano, CH we had shopped at a few different heath food shops (in hopes of finding a wider variety of products and selection).
We were totally stoked when we found some pastries and tarts!!!
Since we had a long train ride coming up, these treats looked and sounded like they would be perfect! We couldn't wait to finally have dessert!!
tarts. Having bought 2 for each of us, we were practically drooling with the
anticipation of a "new" sweet treat!
At about the same time, we had each opened and took our first bite
(Dave was the slowest, and hadn't quite opened his yet).
Now was the big moment of truth...
OMG these things were bloody AWFUL!
They were freakin' disgusting!
The kids and I couldn't believe how GROSS they were. Ewww.
We were busting up and laughing so hard about the situation, and then we realized that Dave still had yet to try out his treats!
The big moment of anticipation was now to watch him suffer though his first bite!
We were more than ready to start busting up and laughing all over again!
And so we did! Even Dave hated them (and he likes everything).
Goes to show that you can't judge a book (or a dessert) by it's cover!
