A Maple MUST DO in Quebec

Well for those of you already following this blog, you know that we've just returned from an absolutely fabulous trip to Quebec!

Having visited Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, and Quebec City.

While the inspiration for this trip was initially all about the Quebec Winter Festival, which had been on my bucket list, I was super excited to research and plan for this Wonderful Winter Wonderland Get-Away!

Doing my research both online, and finding anything that I could in print, I put our itinerary together and made a list of all the things I wanted to do!
One super fun sounding activity that was also so uniquely local, was having Maple Taffy on Snow!

Being a huge maple syrup fan and a vegan (who doesn't usually get to try out too many local delights) why on earth wouldn't I want to try this out?!

But who knew that I'd want to write about it and share with the world just how INCREDIBLE this little experience really is!

While I wasn't really expecting to find any Maple Taffy until we arrived into Quebec City, I was pleasantly surprised when low and behold we saw a little shoppe right outside of of doors at the hotel we were staying at in Mont-Tremblant (Les Tours Voyages)!
I certainly wasn't the only one who spotted this; Cosette (my 13 year old sweet tooth daughter) had also taken notice and immediately asked if we could indulge in the local treat.

Well, as we were headed out to hit the slopes it wasn't quite the right time, but if they were open once we returned then we would certainly try this out for the very first time!

And so they were open upon our return and each of the four of us had ordered one.

Not knowing what we were getting into, we walked into the little shoppe, placed our order, and the shopkeeper had led us back outside to a bucket full of clean snow.

She then poured thickened Maple Syrup directly onto the white snow, and handed us each a popsicle stick, telling us to wait 45 seconds and then to roll our taffy. Easy peasy!

**Maple taffy is made the traditional way by boiling syrup, pouring it over the snow to cool, and using a stick to roll the toffee up into a sweet and sticky lollipop.

And then we finally eat it!
Ok everyone on the count of 3 let's all dig in!

And then pretty much from that moment on I was in Maple Heaven!

This was the tastiest most delightful treat that I have ever had!
I was in love; Definite foodgasms going on here...

And I, the one who typically takes forever to finish my meals, savor my snacks, and slowly indulge in my sweet treats, was the one who had quickly finished before everyone else had barely even started!

Oh how I wanted to take my time, and savor this amazing little morsel for a longer period of time.

It just didn't happen. So I just stared and possibly drooled over everyone else finishing their scrumptious Maple Taffy.

That was it! I needed to have more of Nature's Candy!

Next day - more treats.

And so it was, the next day and each day after that I had to find a 'Sugar Shack' and get my fix!

This stuff is just too good to be true, and now here I am back at home in southern California and physically so very far away from Quebec, with nothing but my Maple Taffy Dreams!

We had a great time in Quebec, and have already put it on the calendar to go back for the 62nd annual Quebec Winter Carnaval for 2016.

And don't even question for a second that the real reason I'm going back is just for more Maple Taffy...but perhaps it is!
