Every year from mid November until mid January, The New York Botanical Gardens (NYBG) holds a Holiday Train Show® exhibition that completely takes over the warm Enid A. Haupt Conservatory and is transformed into a miniature train lovers fantasy come true!
Well you certainly don't have to be a miniature train lover to throughly enjoy this fun experience and stroll through the conservatory completely in awe!
Being a 23-Year New York tradition, this is definitely a must see event! Where enchanting model trains zip past popular landmarks under the twinkling glow of the magical Haupt Conservatory! I must say it's quite a sight to be seen!

I was fortunate enough to secure tickets online ahead of time for the second week it was open, and I took the kids there for our first time on a cold and snowy day this past November.
We happened to be staying in the city and had easily hopped on a train that dropped us off directly across the street and right in front of the Gardens entrance. Easy Peasy!

We had the entire exhibit practically to ourselves! Whether we lucked out because of the weather or because it was the night before Thanksgiving. No photo bombs here!
Wow, when and where on earth can you have any part of NYC to yourself and enjoy an almost private viewing. Lucky us!
The pre-puchased tickets have timed entrances and when we arrived, we strolled right in, no waiting or crowds whatsoever.
Stepping inside was a warm delight on this rather chilly night, and was an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and into a world miniatures! A city that features over 150 iconic buildings. But what makes this experience much different from any other miniature city that you may have witnessed before, is that as you take a closer look, you can tell that these very creative models are made of all natural features, including bark, leaves, and other natural materials. Amazing!

Staring down at the G-scale trains choo-chooing along local familiar and iconic sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Yankees Stadium where the atmosphere just really draws you in! They even have a recording of broadcaster at a Yankees game being played at the little stadium!
As you continue along the path, you'll arrive at The Artist's Studio, which showcases just how visionary artist Paul Busse and his team actually craft these amazing little works of art. Quite fascinating!
