Her exhibition, 25: A Retrospective” for which I interviewed Ms Díaz-Gordon for my article last Friday prior to its opening (Photojournalist Marisol Diaz-Gordon Celebrates 25 Years), was met with great excitement last Friday at its opening, welcoming an enthusiastic large crowd of faculty, students, friends and associates of the artist that included News and photographer professionals.
This was my first visit to BBC and wow, was I delighted by this city campus. As I made my way through the grounds, I couldn't help but stop along the way to admire and photograph the impressive architecture of the buildings and lovely, open green spaces. But, I digress.
With a career that spans more than two decades, Díaz Gordon’s photography archives is quite extensive and robust, portraying a wide array of subject matters and capturing a vast array of moods.
I was pretty fascinated, to say the least, hearing all about how Diaz-Gordon had the opportunity to meet Dr. Brown at his home in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, to photograph him, along with his collection of memorabilia and his coveted Congressional Gold Medal.
On a personal note, I found it quite heartwarming that Ms. Diaz-Gordon was asked to be part of BCC's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration as an alum to commemorate her 25th anniversary! I am profoundly positive that we will be hearing a great deal more from this Bronx photographer in the coming twenty-five years!
