We were in London, Paris, Luxembourg, Rome, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Inverness, and the Outer Hebrides (at first even I wasn't sure exactly where they were)!
I was honestly rather worried about what I would eat and I had my bag packed full of dry foods (protein powders, energy bars, other snacks, etc) for the islands.
But low and behold the world is becoming more aware and vegan friendly!
Not a moment went by that I was hungry and instead I was happily quite full!
MY recent TOP 10 DISHES from Europe:
#10. Cream of Courgette Soup
This soup from the Loch Roag Guest House on the Isle of Lewis was outstanding, I would've really loved another bowl!
I was delighted with this delicious dessert from The Hebrides Hotel on the Isle of Harris. Be sure to ask for it by name, as it happens to not even be on the menu! Oh it was soooo good!
While I was looking forward to stopping by Affogato in Edinburgh for a sweet treat, I had no idea how dreamy this gelato would be. Why oh why didn't order a larger size?!
I'm a sucker for anything Polenta, but when I dug into the likes of this outstanding tart from Manna in London I was just amazed. My tastebuds were dancing with delight. Too bad I ordered this to share - darn I was really not happy about that! Next time I order one to eat all by my self! YUM
Another menu item that I just cannot resist and another winner from Manna in London! Good to the last bite. I wonder - do they ship?
When in a rather non-vegan city I often worry about eating delicious food - I'm a big fan of delicious food! What I love is how chefs are now rising to the occasion and making up custom vegan meals to satisfy their guests. The vegan world is booming and I'm so glad to be a part of it. This absolutely wonderful Gazpacho from Brasserie Plëss at Hotel Le Place d'Armes in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg is a great example!
When you eat on the Terrace at Hotel Rapaël in Rome, the views are to die for and so is the food. This Risotto was nothing if not a perfectly executed dish of tastes and textures. And let me tell you - the Truffles in this dish OMG - they were the best ever!!!
I'm an absolute sucker when it comes to good ol' Italian comfort food. And this dish from Rifugio Romano in Rome brought me back to Mama's kitchen with a dish that my Mama taught me to make. Although we call by another name and it is served in a slightly different manner. This dish tugged at my heart strings and although I had ordered a number of different delicious things to try. This is the dish that left me craving MORE!
Italian. Italian. Italian. Bet you can guess my favorite food. And rightfully so. This is the food of love, and boy oh boy did I LOVE this Nutella (vegan) filled sweet Calzone from Nova Pizza in Edinburgh. Each bite brought me such joy and happiness like no other. Another dish that I wish I ordered at least another one to go!
The name of this starter plate was Intense, it was from the Gentle Gourmet in Paris, and each and every bite of this dish was freakin' amazing! I couldn't think. I couldn't speak. All I could do was enjoy the harmony that was going on in each and every biteful.
Just looking at these pictures and recalling the memory of these meals is making me salivate over here!
Oh and did I mention that even with pedaling 170 miles and climbing 4,000 meters on my bike that I still gained like 10 pounds on this trip...
Yes I ate like a horse and loved every minute of it!
What's next??
I'm so excited that I have some equally tasty and delish dining plans coming up for a New York City Food Crawl, Dining at Disney World, Eating in Orlando and more... Only 8 days to go!!!
By now you must realize that food and travel really do rule my world!!
Happy Travels and Good Eats,
