Hawaii Bound - Pura Vida Costa Rica Trip Day 10 & The Journey Home
Tanya's Daily Scoop
CURRENTLY IN: ORANGE COUNTY, CA Good Day and welcome to another installment of the “Almost” Daily Scoop!
I am currently at LAX with Cosette, sitting here at gate 150 of the International Terminal awaiting boarding for our flight to Honolulu! We are both very ready for some ALOHA. So although we are about to head into the land of Aloha, I still need to finish up with some more Pura Vida and the last installment recap of my Pura Vida Costa Rica Trip. Today’s recap is wrapping up Day 9 and of Day 10 - the journey home… THIS BIG CAT WAS QUITE INTENSE!
I last left off leaving the DOKU Coffee Plantation and heading to the Peace Lodge and Waterfall Gardens.
When booking any new experience I tend to do as much research as possible and one thing I like to know is “How much time is spent (on average) at the specific location?” And for the Waterfall Gardens I found that the recommended time spent is 2-2.5hrs. So because of the very full and quite busy day that Day 9 was, we arrived at the Waterfall Gardens with almost 3 hours to spare before the closing time. However, once we had began exploring we soon realized that even that much time was not enough for us. This park is so lovely, beautiful and with so many things to see and do, that we could’ve easily enjoyed twice that amount of time. Sorry this is incomplete. I’ll be back soon as I can to wrap this up… I’m off on another adventure and about to go rappel down a mountain in Oahu and I need both hands!
In the meantime, enjoy my photos from my final day in Costa Rica!! Catch ya soon. Ciao 4 now, -Travelin’ Tanya |
18th Birthday Celebration with Alice in Wonderland at The NY Botanical Garden
Elisa's Daily Scoop
CURRENTLY IN: LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK Hello!
Well, first of all a big apology for our last blog - we had a glitch with our email service and as a result, The "Almost" Daily Scoop never got emailed over the weekend. Hopefully you received it and got a chance to read all about Doka Coffee Plantation & Poas Volcano, where Tanya visited on Day 9 of her Pura Vita Costa Rica trip! This past weekend was a very exciting one for my family! We celebrated Kelsey's 18th birthday. I cannot believe how many experiences we have blogged about over the course of the past 10 years and that my little girl was only 8 when we began this blogging journey. Now, she's a "legal" college girl and will soon have lots of adventures of her own!! But, I digress. We started our day bright and early on Saturday, picking up Mom on the way, and headed for the Throgs Neck Bridge to head north to The Bronx. The New York Botanical Garden is approximately 22 miles from where we live on Long Island, roughly 42 minutes. Of course, this is barring any traffic. Fortunately, we made pretty good time, hitting just a little traffic and arrived at our destination a little before noon.
Considering that we like to visit this beautiful location throughout the year with all of the different exhibits, I decided to finally become a member, so we could have free access throughout the year ! Kelsey specifically requested that we spend the day in The Bronx to check out the Wonderland: Curious Adventure, themed after Alice in Wonderland (which runs through October 27th) and then for a delicious Italian meal on Arthur Avenue!
Upon arrival, we decided to grab a few baked goods before venturing throughout the grounds and eventually to the indoor exhibits at the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. The weather was so perfect for taking in the beauty of all of the floral arrangements and the decorative "Wonderland" signage!
I will say that after an hour of arriving, it got quite hot since there were no clouds in the sky. But, in my opinion, better sunny than raining for this kind of outdoor experience. I took a photo of the clock because Kelsey was born at 12:20 - so she actually turned 18 a few minutes prior to the time that this photo was taken. A Quick Hello From Elisa
Following a lovely visit throughout the grounds and indoors, we headed a few blocks away to Arthur Avenue - The Real Little Italy. It really was a lovely day!! I'm sure we 'll be headed up there soon enough.
If you are looking for a fun and visually stimulating day, here is another reason to visit: Honoring Cultural Traditions and Botanical Heritage - Now Through Oct. 15th NYBG celebrates Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month with educators, gardeners, community partners, and plant tours. This variety of on-site and digital programs spotlights the important contributions and histories of the plants and people in our community. Until next time! -Travelin' Elisa |
