Elisa's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: NOT SURE YET
Memories of Miami
How's the week going? Mine is going pretty good. The past few days were absolutely gorgeous weather-wise.
However, today is rather icky - raining, gray and wet. But, as you know, I love the rain. It can be so peaceful and relaxing.
My girlies are home sick today. Kelsey woke up in the middle of the night not feeling well with a sore throat and a stuffed up nose. Not sure if this is going to be full-blown cold or just a few days of not feeling 100%.
Gianna was feeling a bit under the weather as well - overly tired and draggy. So, I thought it best to keep her home in case she was coming down with the same things as Kelsey, so she could rest and possibly avoid getting any worse.
I actually had a very productive morning in spite of having the two girls home.
First, I made a delicious banana bread (which they love!). Then I headed to the supermarket to buy some fruit and few other necessities. Boy, do these girls eat me out of house and home!!

As soon as I got home, I made a hearty lentil soup, which is actually on the stove as I'm writing, cooking away!
I'll be making a delicious meal of "Moho Chicken" (Made with cilantro and lime - yum) and a side of lime-infused black beans. I'll be sure to take a picture of the finished meal.
Two years ago, this week - my sissy and I visited Miami as a Sister's Birthday Trip. We stayed at the Eden Roc hotel and basically didn't much except relax and soak up the rays...oh, yeah and eat. lol.
Unfortunately, my camera was broke and she took all the pics and, well, I do not have any to share with you, sadly. We wound up getting stranded in Miami for a few extra days due to Hurricane Sandy hitting the east coast, causing severe damage and closing down the New York (and much of the Northeast) airports.
In any case, remembering Miami, I got sentimental about the very first time I took Gianna & Kelsey to Miami.
It was the Summer of 2011 - July to be exact. We had decided to pay a visit to Florida, where we stayed at my parents' house throughout the month of July, along with my sister and her two sons.
Most people don't think of going to Florida in the Summer, but i have to say, it was a wonderful change of pace than being up north and the weather, quite frankly was not that much different in terms of the heat and humidity compared to New York.
My girls were complaining and telling me how they didn't want to go, blah, blah, blah. But, I insisted and we set out from Boca Raton to Miami on the 45 minute drive south.
I remember, clear as day, I booked us a room for 2 nights at the Grand Beach Hotel, which was right on the beach. My little girls, unlike me, have spent more time being pool kids than beach kids, so this was a bit of an adventure for them.
All I can say, is once we were there, dining outside under the umbrella with a view of the ocean, they were hooked!
We secured some lounge chairs on the beach and that was it - they officially LOVED Miami. Romping and playing in the sand, jumping in the ocean and enjoying some tasty fruity drinks while lounging, these girls were all smiles ear to ear.

Our room was really lovely. All white, with 2 bathrooms, a terrace and a terrific view.
Upon waking up the first morning, I decided to go out on the terrace to take a phone call so I wouldn't awaken my sleeping beauties.
I'm not sure what happened, but somehow the sliding door got locked and I was trapped outside.
I knocked on the door to get the kids' attention, but they could not open it for some reason. I was trying to explain to them just how to do it, but for whatever reason, they just couldn't undo the lock.
Well, that's when the fun began. I had to call, from outside, on my cell, the hotel front desk, to request someone from housekeeping come to the room to unlock the door and let me in.
During this time, the kids were slightly panicked, having me trapped on the opposite side of the glass door.
But, one of the housekeeping engineers arrived within about 10 minutes of calling and Mommy was freed! Or I should say, captive again. lol. Depending on your perspective.
The rest of our little trip was pretty low-key...eating, walking around Miami and taking in the sunshine before heading back to Boca.
I think Miami is a must-do next trip to Boca to visit the parents!!
Off to do more cooking on this rainy, relaxing day.
See ya back here tomorrow! -E xoxo

Dress up fun
Good Day Everyone!
I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things over here and catching up with my "at home" routine.
Halloween is right around the corner and our crew loves to dress up and parade the neighborhood.
Being that today is the last TBT (Throwback Thursday) before we play dress up, I figured that I'd share with you the past few years of fun.
Back in 2008 - I took a couple of years off from playing dress up, but OMG look at these two cute chicken littles!

Sorry but, you've got to wait until Travelin' Tuesday for me to share all of the FAB FUN details with you.
I've also really got into the swing of things with Christmas shopping.
There are only 58 more shopping days left before Christmas!
Outside of the typical local shoppes, and online shopping, I plan on picking up some gifts while in Monterey, Catalina Island, Sedona, Scottsdale, and San Diego all this during this November.
As far as this weekend goes, we are heading to: The SoCal VegFest - Celebrating healthy eating and conscious living. Which if it is anything like last year's event - it should be totally YUMMY to the MAX!
