A Getaway to Whidbey Island Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY IN: ORANGE COUNTY, CA Hi! (insert my wave and embarrassed smile here) Well, sometimes it's the "Almost" Daily Scoop and honestly times like this it's more like the "Hardly" Daily Scoop or more like the "Where the Heck are Ya?!" Daily Scoop or the "Not so" Daily Scoop. What in the Heck are we thinking... Taking so long to bop on here and fill you guys in on the SCOOP! Albeit, YES both Elisa and I have been very busy - I am not using that as an excuse. Because... A. I HATE excuses. and B. Aren't we all BUSY?! Plus we are being busy with all the stuff that we fill you in on. Soooo maybe it's just my Italian Guilt.... Alright already! Enough is enough. Let's MOVE ON. I am back in SoCal AGAIN - you'd think I sort of live here. LOL I cannot believe that after telling you all about my upcoming trip for Cosette's birthday that I totally missed coming at you from Whidbey Island (San Juan Islands, Washington State). And I am already back and unpacked from that little Getaway. Sometimes it takes me longer to unpack than other times - like when I have to turn around and repack for another trip! Yep - FLORIDA baby! I am taking a Red-Eye on Wednesday and meeting up with the ladies on Thursday morning. And by the way - I am floating on air about the NYY (the Yanks) moving on to the World Series as the American League Champs! I thought you might be wondering how I feel about such things. Well I have been shouting and screaming at games throughout the country and at the good ol boob tube all season long watching these men in pin stripes kick some (you know what), but if you know baseball than the one thing you know is that you never know. So, I'll stop talking now, but come Friday while we are having a blast at Epcot - I might just be a bit distracted because that is Game One of the World Series! Now how's about a little review of Whidbey Island. When you are my child, you know I'm gonna offer you a trip to go somewhere on a trip for your birthday. So when Cosette suggested us going to the San Juan Islands of Washington, I was all over it. She was looking for something on the mellow side and I was looking to explore. A very happy medium for us all was Whidbey Island. Neither of us had ever been prior. It seemed quaint, charming and just perfect! Dominic and I flew up from Orange County, while Dave C. had flown in from Virginia, Dave Y. had arranged to be up there for work and of course Cosette and Javier just moved back to Washington. The first night was full of laughter as 5 of us squeezed into a small 4 door hatchback, before going to pick up a second vehicle. It was also full of delays and waiting for Dave C. to land, which finally happened at 1am! It was the next day that we headed over to Whidbey Island. and to enjoy Langley (which happened to be my favorite town on the island). The next day was all about the outdoors and checking out a sculpture filled nature walk in Oak Harbor and then over to Deception Pass. And then we had Cosette's birthday and her wish was to play games, enjoy some delish home cooking, walk to the beach and watch the Yankees game. Finally on the last day of our trip, we went to go check out the scenic Coupeville. The night that we left to head back to Cali, Cosette and Javier had also left, to go to Mexico! So as I write this blog, my little honey is in another country (for the first time without her Ma)! She's been sending me pictures, texts and either doing FaceTime with me or giving me a call every night. Another thing that I'm going to share with you is my mindset. You already know how traveling is pretty much my numero uno. Well on Thursday I just found out that my brother in law had gifted my sister a February trip to Honolulu, for him, her and my niece Chaplin. Well needless to say (I know it's for their Anniversary) but I feel left out. And I know that I am possibly the last person that you would or should ever feel sorry for. And I don't want you to. In fact I will be in Maui and Kauai in January. But there is just something in me that wants to be a part of "almost" all vacations! So with that being said... Do you recall the story of why I went to Costa Rica the very first time? THIS MIGHT JOG YOUR MEMORY And now here I am and having the same feelings that I just have to go somewhere while they are away. I just cannot be at home while they are in Hawaii. BTW if they were going someplace I don't like or have no interest in going then I wouldn't care and I'd be happy to stay home. Here is my short list of places that I might go in February, while they are in Hawaii:
Guess I need to figure this out. Shoot me a message if you have any suggestions. Time for me to sign off. Ciao 4 Now, -Travelin' Tanya | Birthday Celebrations | Local Long Island Fall Festival Elisa's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY IN: LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK Helllllooo! I am not going to reiterate what Tanya said in her post about our tardiness and neglect of our blogging duties and our deepest apologies (well, looks like I just did!) - but you can bet that we both feel awful about not checking in with you guys!! When I think back to how me and my dear cuz used to post EVERY SINGLE DAY!! - it blows my mind. Well, both of us were somewhat ladies of leisure in those days, as stay at home moms and now, we have both moved into the world of working outside the home, so I guess we are both finding it hard to juggle everything in due time! But, here we are today. AND WHAT'S MORE --- we will be together in 3 days in Sunny Florida!! You can bet we will be blogging regularly since we will have one another to do it with! So, stay tuned. Can I tell you how excited I am??? Usually, my trips to Florida in the last few years have been ALL about Disney World, but this one will be alittle different. Of course, we will be staying at a Disney Property since as Disney Vacation Members, both me and my mom have accrued points. And, yes - we will be visiting EPCOT during this trip as well. However, the rest of the time, we will be enjoying some other activities. We've got lots of plans for eating great food, visiting with family, having a healing session at Staying Aliive Wellness Center in Cape Canaveral, and of course, Shopping Galore!!! I head out tomorrow with mom and then, as Tanya mentioned in her Scoop today, she will be joining us on Thursday! Yay - cannot wait!! Moving right along - this past week had some fun times as well, It was Your' Truly's birthday and so there was some celebrating going on. First a totally fun birthday afternoon!! Kelsey was free in the afternoon, so she and I went out for a lovely lunch at The Shed in Westbury. Unfortunately, Gianna was in class all day, so it wasn't until the evening. Kelsey. and I had visited The Shed in Sayville back in the Spring, but this was the first time we had frequented and eaten together at the restaurant in Westbury. Lunch was super delish and it was so nice to hang out with my girl on my birthday!! Later that evening , my little trio got to all hang out and have a "Happy Birthday" moment with absolutely delicious "pumpkin" blondies!! We did a pretty down and dirty celebration because everyone's schedule was crazy, but that is okay because there will be plenty of time to continue the celebration. In fact, on this past Saturday, Kelsey and I had a fun day at a local Fall Festival nearby our home in Mineola, Long Island. There were lots of really cool vendors (in fact, I got a little Christmas gift for Gianna), food trucks, music and a petting zoo. Kelsey and I partook in a bunch of food including some fried wontons, greek food, a pretzel and a refreshing homemade lemonade. I have to say, I collected a number of business cards from the vendors - there were so many talented small entrepreneurs selling their creations!! That's a wrap for today!! See ya'll from Florida as I depart tomorrow! Till next time, Travelin' Elisa |
