Tanya's Daily Scoop
NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 6 DAYS
There's always something to celebrate!
It's none other than Elisa's Birthday!!! (and we are giving her the day off!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUZ!
I hope that you have a most fabulous day and that all of your dreams come true.
Be sure that you wish Elisa a very Happy Birthday :)
Oh how I wish that we could celebrate together!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Maybe another fabulous birthday trip?!
The celebrating didn't end for us over here, as we went to go have afternoon tea at the Langham in Pasadena yesterday.
However through the efforts of our server, the experience actually turned out to be a quite positive one (we spent a relaxing 3 hours enjoying our tea time! - Yes this is a normal length of time for me to enjoy tea time) and each of us do look forward to a return visit.
Little did I know that this London property was the first Langham Hotel...
Opened in London in the year 1865 and the first luxury hotel in Europe to serve afternoon tea.
Have I mentioned how much I love this tradition!
And might I add that afternoon tea at the Langham in London is an absolute stand out (I loved it - twas a fabulous experience) and no matter how lovely our experience in Pasadena turned out yesterday, it was still a far cry from their original London location - so much so, that they should not even be thought of as in the same category.
I really can only speak for the vegan afternoon tea at the Boston location (which was quite pitiful) and now the Pasadena location.
NOTE: Every Langham Hotel around the world carries on with the tradition - serving afternoon tea on a daily basis.
*Perhaps I see a new quest in my future...sampling and comparing all of the Langham afternoon teas around the globe!!
Well for now let's talk a bit about the lovely property that is right here in Pasadena...
Originally opened in 1907, dating back to the gilded age, the property lies on 23-acre grounds located a mere 2.2 miles from the beautiful Huntington Gardens.
In fact railroad tycoon Henry E. Huntington took ownership in 1911 and reopened in 1914 as The Huntington Hotel after a major redesign which added its iconic central belvedere tower.
Remaining under Huntington's management until 1918. With such a rich history the two businesses still hold a deeply connected relationship.
Today, as the connection continues – now a Corporate Partner, The Langham supports The Huntington’s education programs through annual memberships, special grants, and members discounted room rates.
Since I never like rushing tea time, we didn't actually get over to the Huntington Gardens, instead we came back home and got ready to go to the movies.
Seeing the moon on our way home left us speechless - it was a SUPERMOON!
While I couldn't get any pictures of the amazingly HUGE and magnificently BRIGHT moon, I did gather a bit of information from timeanddate.com to share with you:
When a full Moon coincides with being closest to Earth (perigee), it is called a Super Full Moon.
A Micromoon, on the other hand, is when a full or a new Moon is farthest from the Earth (apogee).
A Super Full Moon also looks about 30% brighter than a Micro Full Moon and about 16% brighter than an average full Moon.
The remainder of the night was with the gang - Dave B, Dave C, Dominic, Cosette, my mum, Brigitte, Houston, Matt, and myself going to see The Magnificent Seven starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt.
Today my quest is to get some shopping taken care of and hopefully take Cosette to go see Dream.
I'll be back to join you here tomorrow as we start a brand new week and the countdown for my next trip!!
Tootles,
-T
