New Month, New PlansHey! Can you believe it's October!! And, it's also Libra season! Yup, you guessed it - Travelin' Elisa is a Libra! I have some fun plans for the month, which I'll tell you about shortly, but first...as you know, I never made it to the Queens Night Market Saturday night, however, my friend Karla did and being the good travel and "foodie" friend that she is, she has written an article for us about her experience! So, today, we're happy to bring you a Guest Blog from Karla Guerra: Let's Talk October!! I have a bunch happening this month - here's my calendar, so far: October 3: Gianna''s Confirmation (Since it's mid-week, we probably wont do anything too over the top - perhaps just an early dinner) October 4: Bronx Community College for "25: A Retrospective" - featuring photographer Marisol Diaz-Gordon October 6: Kelsey Birthday Dinner (take 2) October 16: My Birthday!!! October 20: Smokey Joe's Cafe A day out in NYC to see a show to celebrate my birthday and my Aunt Ro's (Oct. 20th). October 21: Vegan Market in Brooklyn Cannot wait for this event! October 27: Queens Night Market (Take 2 lol) I know I'll be adding more to the calendar, but for now, that's what we have. A little laugh for you -- yesterday, me and Gianna spent a few hours at the laundromat and I thought I would do a quick video lol. Here it is!! On that note, here's to a great first day of October! See ya back here tomorrow!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo | Back from San DiegoHappy Monday and Holy Smokes Folks it's already October?! Wow! I'd say where the heck did the year go, but I know that I've been busy bopping up in places all over the world that I've definitely spent the time well! The craziest thing for me knowing that we are now in the 10th month is that it is already time to start planning my packing for our long awaited trip to CHINA - departing in 36 Days! I was so releived to receive our Chinese Visas 3 days ago (on Friday), just as we were heading out for our weekend getaway to San Diego. October is a funny month for me, because it's the start of birthday season over here and of course all of the holidays that hit one after the next. And because of all of that - it is actually my slow season for traveling! Sure I still have a few more places to go before the year is up and China being one of them - and that is a HUGE trip. But for the most part my travel schedule is fairly mellow. Throughout the rest of the year my countdowns are generally all within a few days to a week or so between trips and now I literally have a month before I have plans to head out of town!!! The first birthday of our birthday season is on October 14th and that is my dear sweet love Cosette's Day - I think she is possibly still working on plans for the day, but I know that she wants to go have an English Breakfast at Kitchen Mouse up in LA. Our recent trip to Hawaii was pretty much an early birthday trip for her, so I think things might be fairly mellow on the actual day. Speaking of Hawaii - can you believe that I haven't even been back a week yet and have already gone to the Hollywood Bowl to go see and sing along to Florence + the Machine - have you, on the night we came back into town! Recap of the Florence + the Machine concert I also managed to go away to San Diego for the weekend, spent Saturday hanging out with friends while Crazy Dave pedaled away off in Mexico for the 39th Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride. Where are you going and are you taking safety precautions A Photo recap from Rosarito to Ensenada, Mexico And then went to Petco Park yesterday to watch the San Diego Padres play the Arizona Diamondbacks in the last game of the regular MLB season. Although we munched on some garlic fries during the game, we didn't have any breakfast and were quite starving by the time the game ended. The Padres won 4-3 in the 10th inning. So we opted to postpone our visit to Coronado and to focus on lunch and then the 2 hour drive back home. I decided that we had to try Anthem Cafe and we are thrilled that I did! This new vegan cafe was the BOMB! The food. The service. The atmosphere. The music. The everything! I may have only managed to take pics of what we ate, but I knew during that entire visit that we had to come back and that we have to bring the kids - who we know will also LOVE IT! Going back to 2016 I actually met with the owner of Anthem, when we made a special trip to the Hillcrest Farmer's Market to check out their food stand - that was a couple of years before they had an actual restaurant. I'm so stoked for them and for all of the vegans and non-vegans who now have the opportunity to sit, dine and enjoy all of the oh so many menu options! CONGRATS - you definitely deserve a Travelin' Cousins Vegan Approved window decal! It's another Monday and after I get some chores and errands done, we'll be heading off to choir rehearsal and I'll be giving an orientation meeting. Back atcha tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya |
