Good Day Folks Hip Hip Hooray - the weekend continues! You just can't help but love these 4 day weekends.
As I mentioned yesterday, my plan was to head out to the Alpine Village in Torrance and check out Green Saturday LA - an event that I've been wanting to check out for a while now...but I'm always out of town - go figure!
Well I finally made it. We finally made it - Dave and I that is. The kids had opted to stay home and take a break. We brought canned pet food donations to the Whiskers & Tails Foundation which served as our admission and in we went to check out the retail and food vendors. Which meant Christmas shopping and more eating!

For those of you who don't know it, there's a Mexican vegan baker within the vegan community whose baked good I've been eyeing - and although they look good - I really haven't known what on Earth they are. Sure go ahead and laugh at me. I'm pretty well versed in foods from several regions around the globe - however these particular Mexican goods (Conchas & Gansitos) kept me guessing...
- A concha sweet bread bought in Mexico City. Conchas (shells) are known for their shell-like shape and sugar shell pattern on the top. This is one of the most famous Mexican pastries and widely recognized in the United States. It is also referred to as "pan de huevo".
- Gansito, is a Mexican snack cake, which is similar to the Twinkie, with the exception of strawberry jelly along with the creamy filling and that it is covered in chocolate with chocolate sprinkle topping.
Well last week while we were in Phoenix, AZ I happened to find some vegan Conchas at one of the restaurants (Nami) that we chowed at for brunch. I decided that we should order one just to try it out. And guess what - we devoured it - it was so darn tasty! Now we knew! We went back the following morning and were bummed to find out that they were completely SOLD OUT. (insert sad face here)
So why am I mentioning this? Because that vegan baker whose good's I've been eyeing was scheduled to be at none other than Green Saturday LA!! And THAT was my first stop - I wanted more Conchas. I've told you that I can have a sweet tooth!
We had also past several other booths with more tasty foods that tempted our taste buds and so of course we shared some more.

Everything was quite tasty don't get me wrong, I was also glad to find a few other items that weren't to be eaten on-spot - like candy for the movies! LOL But you'll be happy to know that I also did find a Christmas gift while we were there.

After our visit there we had went Christmas and Birthday shopping. As we were driving we spotted a double rainbow and once shopping we found lots of success and when the time came we made our way back to the house to gather with the rest of the fam-bam to go see Moana - which was enjoyed by all.
With all the shopping that was done yesterday I had decided that we postpone going to San Diego from today to a weekend in December. The only thing is that now I don't know what our plans for the day are. But I'll figure it out and then get back to you on it.
