Week Ahead and 7 UNESCO Sites To Visit in Winter
Hello and Happy Monday! Another sunny and brisk day on Long Island!
Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Fun and productivity on this end! Yesterday, we had an open house in hopes of finding a buyer for my house and while that was going on, me and the girls (and Punkin) scooted out for a few hours. After picking up some breakfast goodies from Dunkin Donuts, we headed over to one of our favorite shopping strip malls. Gianna opted to wait in the car as she had studying to do, while Kelsey and I hit the stores. Although our intended destination was Trader Joe's, we took a detour to Bassett Furniture to take a look at the furniture displays. Kelsey and I LOVE the furniture in this store and always do some fantasizing about how we will decorate our "new" house (once we sell our current one) from room to room! It's one of our happy places!! Here are a few of the things we "decided" upon yesterday....
It was literally love at first sight with this dining room table!!! We fell in love with it. We decided we would switch up the chairs, bt the table is a definite for our new dining room!!!
Coming from a house that is very traditional, with old world charm, we are excited to start off fresh in our new house (wherever and whatever that ends up being) and go with a new, more contemporary style of decor.
Can't wait till we can start the decorating process!!! After our fun time in Bassett, we got all of our grocery shopping done in Trader Joe's and headed home for a nice pasta dinner and an evening of Dancing with the Stars Jr.
I'm not big with network tv and all the big pharma commercials (ugh, sooooo annoying), but me and Kelsey bond together each Sunday night to watch these adorable and talented kids dance their hearts out!
In travel news... Not sure if you have noticed, but Tanya's scoop yesterday was not filled in. She is having a heck of a time with wifi in China. I am still awaiting her text for yesterday and today's blog, but as soon as I receive it, I will update both and resend in tomorrow's blog. For your information, today Tanya and gang are in Hangshou. A little bit about Hangshou, thanks to wiki: Hangzhou, the capital of China’s Zhejiang province, is the southern terminus of the ancient Grand Canal waterway, which originates in Beijing. Its West Lake, celebrated by poets and artists since the 9th century, encompasses islands (reachable by boat), temples, pavilions, gardens and arched bridges. On its south bank is 5-story Leifeng Pagoda, a modern reconstruction of a structure built in 975 A.D. And moving right along, you guys know how much me and Tanya LOVE UNESCO Sites!! Well, i just happened to have receive an article via email from AFAR Magazine today!! 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites You Need to Visit This Winter
And wouldn't you know, one of the sites is none other than the Great Wall of China in Beijing!! Find out what the other 6 places are!! read more.
Going for a nice morning walk now! Have a spectacular day! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
Tanya Visits Gardens in Wuxi & West Lake in Suzhou
Tanya's scoop will be updated shortly once she has decent wifi. For now, here is a photo taken at the Gardens in Wuxi, earlier today. -E
I’m back after receiving Tanya’s blog via email!!! Here it is... Hello my peeps! I’m so so so so so very sorry to have missed all of you. Toay I sent you greetings from Hangzou - one of China's seven ancient capitals, boasting two World Heritage Sites — West Lake and the Grand Canal, and as Marco Polo had described the spectacular city of Hangzhou. He described it as "the city of heaven" and "the finest and most splendid city in the world". There's a Chinese saying, "Shang you tian tang, xia you su hang", "Heaven above, Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth". Now if that doesn't say enough. I don't know what else I can say, but only let the pictures speak for themselves. Our day had actually started in Suzhou and with a stop at the Suzhou Silk Factory. Well I'm dozing off now. I'll to you talk some more. Travelin' Tanya |
