Tanya's Daily Scoop TRIP COUNTDOWN Next Trip Departs In: 7 Days
Last week home...before my summer of Travelin' Fun!
Well Hellooooo there!
How is everyone out there today?
We are all good, though you can probably say that we are all a bit groggy! But it's all worth it!
Because we just came off of a killer weekend up in San Francisco!
We may not have done each and everything that I had hoped for (based on the craziness of being a muddy mess and them some on Saturday - see yesterdays SCOOP for all the details), but everything that we had done - was done just right!
The main reason for the slight grog is because we didn't pull up to the house until 3:45am! And you know we didn't go right to sleep!!!
We started off our day by heading to the ever foggy Golden Gate Bridge, we drove across it (no time to walk across it this time), and stopped at 2 vista points. One on the north side of the bridge and the other on the south side. Once we arrived at the south side, we all had some fun and got a bit silly!
When did Dominic learn how to fly?
After having our fun around the bridge - which by the way wasn't at all busy... Not being busy is unheard of in the summer (and other times too), so take note that you should go in the morning if you don't want to deal with the mass of crowds, extreme traffic and actually snag a decent parking spot!
Anyhow, next up was breakfast at my favorite breakfast stop in San Francisco (also open for lunch and dinner); Herbivore - which we've been coming to since the kids were babies. I think it's probably about time for me to feature them in a future FOODIE FRIDAY!
About to dig in!
Onward to AT&T Park for the SF Giants game!!!
I was glad that we arrived in plenty of time to enjoy the stadium before the game started. Because this is one of the nicest, if not THE NICEST baseball stadiums out there! It's located in an amazing location and offers great views and tons of fun to be had!
And although the Giants had lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks and one of my favorite players wasn't on the line up, we still had a super afternoon at the game! BTW - Buster Posey was put in as a pinch hitter in the 9th inning!!!
Buster Posey hitting into the last out of the game...
Our day continued by going on a postcard hunt for Dave - he's got a great tradition and super way to log travel memories: Dave sends us postcards from our trips/travels that go over the day to day events and happenings. Not only do we get an pretty postcard, but it serves as a travel diary AND we get the cancellation from each city that he sends the cards from!
I wish that I had thought to do this years and years ago! I just love it!
After the postcard was all situated, we were on our way down the coast. The drive was lovely, but the lighting (overcast) sucked. We stopped at Pigeon Point Lighthouse to take some pictures and then continued to Monterey.
Pigeon Point Lighthouse
Once we were almost into Santa Cruz the sun had broke free of the clouds and we had some beautiful lighting - which we really enjoyed, but didn't stop for pictures.
Arriving in Monterey as the sun began to set, we knew that we better take the opportunity to grab dinner before it got to late, and by the time we were finished with dinner, it was in fact too late to do anything else. Oh well, we can always come back!
Overall, I'm happier that we took our time and took that stretch of drive because it was something that any of us had ever done and we were curious about it. We had an AWESOME weekend and can always catch up on our Zzz's when there's less fun to be had!
Nothing too exciting for today, the kids have choir rehearsal and I have a Board Meeting. (insert me jumping for joy here)
So, I'm gonna sign off now, but before doing that I want to point out how much I luv that Elisa took pictures of all her outfits for our upcoming trip to Europe. I know she said that she's sharing them with you, but I like to think that they are just for me... So that I can attempt to coordinate my packing - which has to get done here VERY soon!!!
It's certainly not that I've put it off, but that I've been traveling too much and packing for other trips and haven't had the time to start this grand chore! It's sure gonna be a doozy!
Ok now the real sign off :)
See ya tomorrow, -T

Hello! Monday again and a new week.
Can you believe we are half-way through June. I can’t!
I will admit, being a bit anal, I’m already packed and 99% ready to go. All my clothes are either in my suitcase or hanging nearby (to avoid wrinkling).
I thought it would be fun to share with you, some of the outfits I’ll be bringing on this trip.
I just love organizing the ensembles that I plan to wear during my trips prior, and taking pictures of them so I can look at them all beforehand; decide which ones will work for which day (based on the activities that are on the itinerary) and then putting the photos in order of date.
Casual Black flats - good to go with jeans, jean shorts and black shorts

Stylish Pair of jeans
Sounds crazy right? Well, I know Tanya has a pretty interesting packing strategy as well, planning her outfits in advance and even coordinating colors for each day with her travel companions.
The more you travel, the more you realize how valuable suitcase space is AND how angering it is when you bring stuff that you don't wind up wearing.
As for me, I beleive that the more planning you can do ahead of time, the better off you are on the trip to save time ANDeven more importantly, it's a good defense against over-packing things you will never even wear.
Good pre-planning also insures that you coordinate shoes and clothing, making the most of your valuable packing space. I try to look at what I bring on a trip both from the clothes and the shoe perspective.
versatile black, long sleeve top

Cute Blue Dress
for overnight Train ride from Krakow to Budapest. Versatile White Sweat jacket can go with other outfits
versatile blue long sleeve top
Cute black dress for Opera
Fun dress shoe to wear with Black Dress or Black Shorts
If I have a totally comfortable pair of shoes, then I work clothes around them because after all, if your feet hurt, you cannot enjoy your trip. I usually will bring one pair of dress shoes when traveling.
There's something fun about getting dressed up once or twice during a trip for a special evening or event. Bringing along a pair of heels is worth it to me if it's going to make the difference in transforming my look from casual daytime wear to evening attire.
Now in addition to outfits, I always bring a selection of tanks to go under tops, so I'll be bringing black, white and even pink.
What if it's a little chilly? I will be wearing a black sweatshirt on the plane so one less thing to pack. I'll also bring a white sweatshirt and a beige lightweight short sleeved jacket for wearing over outfits if entering a church that requires shoulders being covered. A couple of long sleeved tops and lastly, a rain slicker, just in case!
Tomorrow is Travelin' Tuesday, so we'll be heading for Bratislava on my Daily Scoop and I'll be getting into some detail about the places Tanya and I will be visiting in this city.
Hey - check out Tanya's Scoop about her great time at the SF Giant's game yesterday!!! <----<----<----<----
