Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: VIRGINIA
Taking a Down Day...
Happy Monday everyone!
Can you believe that it is ALREADY the last week in July?!?!
Holy Smokes Folks - time sure flies when you are are having a good time. And as you know I am very fond of having a good time. So I aim for a great time - which I most certainly have been having!
After putting over 3k miles on the rental, I finally went for cuppa joe!
What an amazing year it has been, and we still have 5 months to go - which is plenty in terms of time to travel and such...but then my mind goes straight to the Holiday season and then I think YIKES... I ONLY have 5 months (not even) before Christmas!
Well I'm gonna take each day as it comes and why not throw in some Christmas shopping here and there when the situation arises. (As you might remember, I already started my Christmas shopping a few months ago - but only bought a couple of things.) Not to worry - I'll step up my game!
Well folks, this is my last partial week on my "2015 Summer Trip". We traveled down to Virginia from New Hampshire yesterday via road trip. Driving through New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and then finally Virginia!
After several hours of driving, we were getting close!
Chesapeake Bay Bridge
We arrived at the kids Aunt's house and got to meet their newest cousin Aiden (1yr) for the very first time! What a little Cutie Patootie!
Dominic & Cosette with their cousins Cali and Aiden
After having dinner and hanging out a bit, we traveled to their Grandma's in Chesapeake, VA; where the kiddos had a sleep over with cousin Cali, and they stayed up playing Monopoly until the wee morning hours. So of course they will be zonked out until who knows when today!
As far as today goes, I'll be taking the kiddos and their cousin Cali to Virginia Beach and go to Whole Foods (they have a really nice one), and to this newish Vegan Bakery 'My Sweet Tooth', that we've yet to go to, but sounds like a good match for my crew!
Then after lunch, I'll take these kids to the pool, and that'll about do it - it'll be a quiet stress free, kick back day - so that most likely means that I'll also manage some travel planning!
Come back here tomorrow on Travelin' Tuesday to hear all about my next upcoming trip: TRIP DEPARTS IN: 12 DAYS! And so much much more...
Hope you have a smashingly wonderful day!
That's a wrap folks, -T
Elisa's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: SEPTEMBER
New Week - Lots Going On
HEY THERE!!! It's Monday and a new week!!
I hope your week is starting off more exciting than mine. Because of a huge hole in my living room ceiling caused by a leak in the master bath above, I have so much work that needs to be done!!
After a few weeks of trying to determine the source of the the leak, it was finally determined that the culprit lies in a leak in the shower pan - which is underneath the marble tile floor of the shower!!!
What that means now, is that in order to get to the shower pan, remove it and replace it, the marble floor of the shower needs to be destroyed and ripped up so they can get underneath.
The destruction for the floor was done early this morning. I am now charged with going to marble retailers to match the same color that we bought 15 years ago! I'm not terribly hopeful, but I'll start the search tomorrow morning.
Next step - the plumber needs to come to re-install the shower pan. Then the tile installer will have to come back to re-install and repair the tile on the floor of the shower, with (hopefully) the SAME replacement marble tiles. UGH!!! What a pain in the a$$.
While that was happening, I am also STILL dealing with the destruction caused by the infamous family of raccoons that broke into and resided in my attic over the Winter.
At the beginning of the Summer, when we turned on the central air, we realized that it was not working in Rebecca's room. The cause...destroyed ducts in the attic from those hairy invaders.
Had remediation done and repair to the ducts. Well, lo and behold, the a/c is still not working in Rebecca's room. This morning the a/c guys came over to see what the cause was - and, I bet you guessed it - upon further investigation on the part of the air conditioning repair company, there is yet another section of duct work in the attic that is in shambles.
So, now enter once again, the remediation guy, who needs to return (probably later in the week) to do his work and then the a/c company will have to come back yet again to install new ductwork.
Does it ever end???
Considering I haven't been home in weeks, I had to run out early before the parade of workers arrived, to do some marketing.
So, at this point, let me talk about funner times - yesterday!
I decided to go to my sis, Danielle's house yesterday to hang out in her pool. This is the first season with her pool as it was installed over the winter.
She opted for a salt-water pool and boy is it a helluva lot nicer than the pools with fresh water and chlorine, in my opinion. Really enjoyed it!!
The kids had a blast jumping and playing!
It's heated so it was such a pleasure walking into the nice, warm water!!
After a nice afternoon swim, we ordered in food and enjoyed a nice Italian meal together!!
The rest of the afternoon today is very open. I have no idea what we will do together. I'd like to do something fun - maybe the park or a movie.
I'm open to what they would like to do. What I can tell you is that the kids slept very late today - I guess they are catching up on sleep too.
Now, I have a big announcement to make!!! We have added a new page to our site!!
TRAVELIN' COUSINS KIDS!!!
Going forward, we will feature our kiddies weekly to tell their side of their "scoop" and traveling adventures!!!
