It's a Beautiful Morning and 4 Reasons Not To Rule Out Flying First Class
Hi!!! And welcome to a beautiful day here on Long Island!!!
Our heat wave has finally broken! I'm sitting here writing al fresco at my favorite Starbucks, just soaking in the cool and lovely breeze! What's more, I heard the perfect song on the way here earlier - It's a Beautiful Morning - the old 1960's song by The Rascals and I thought I would share it with you, for your listening pleasure - it's a real uplifting tune!
Can you believe it's Hump Day already? Well, this gorgeous weather has me very enthusiastic and upbeat, not to mention, optimistic about things that would normally seem a bit daunting.
For instance, when traveling, how many times do you allow yourself to even contemplate the idea of flying business or first class? All too often, we put that prospect right out of our minds for fear that it will break the bank and use up our entire travel and vacation budget. But, that is not necessarily the case. 4 Reasons Not To Rule Out Flying First Class
1. Specialized Sites for Finding Best First Class Rates
There are a number of sites that can help you get discounted rates for business and first class flights. According to SmarterTravel.com and their recent article, Where to Find Premium Airfare Deals on First Class and Business Class, they list two sites in particular to find those coveted deals on premium travel. These include First Class Flyer which they describe as the gold standard for finding deals on premium airfare, for both performance and membership price. According to the article, "The minimum Silver level costs $97 per year, and gets you a daily bulletin that covers special deals for both cash payments and use of miles. Higher levels of membership cost $197 and $297 per year and add on a bunch of additional information" Another site mentioned is MightyTravels’ which offers a premium option of $7.99 per month (about the same as First Class Flyer) and offers daily bulletins on business class, premium economy and first class deals from your home airport, including unpublished and “mistake” fares. 2. Use Your Frequent Flyer Points Although frequent flyer programs have changed a great deal in recent years, making it more and more difficult to garner business and first class flights at a reasonable number of points, it's still possible to find a deal here or there. Depending on your flexibility in travel and the destination to which you are going, there are some creative ways to either purchase using points or doing a combination of economy ticket purchase and using points to upgrade. Either way, the points do you no good banked in your account. 3 Do Not Be Airline Loyal Many travelers have a personal bias about which airline(s) with which they want to travel. Whether it be to accrue points in their frequent flyer accounts or because it has become habit to travel with a particular airline. In either case, this approach can be a limiting factor in finding the best rates out there. You'd be surprised at the options available, particularly if you are traveling internationally. 4. Be Flexible with Travel Dates As with all air travel, flexibility can be your ally to find the best rates and this is also true when looking at business and first class flights. The difference from one day to the next or between weeks can make a big difference in the price you could pay for the comfort of flying in a premium class. In other news... You're going to love this one - As you know, Tuesdays are our movie day since we love to take advantage of AMC Theater's Discount Tuesday, which is essentially, $6 per ticket. We were all excited about going to see the newly released The Lion King yesterday. I had talked for a few days about purchasing our tickets (through Fandango), but one thing or another kept getting in the way. So, yesterday morning, while Punkin was chowing down her food, I attempted to order three tickets for my trio. Guess what? NOTHING!! No showing during the day had three seats together. I checked from the earliest showings all the way through to the last one playing at 11:35PM last night. The only thing available was the front row at the 8pm show and trust me, this was not going to happen! As a result, we did not see The Lion King yet. (Grrrrrr). We'll have to go next week and in fact, that reminds me, I better order those tickets today to insure seats!! Ok my lovelies - enjoy your day and I'll be back atcha tomorrow!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
