Pizza, Foodie Friday & Film Expo Excitement!Howdy! First I have to tell you what a great time we had last night! Gianna, my little chef cooked us up pizza on the grill! She had given me a list of ingredients I needed to buy, which included plum tomatoes, arugula, mozzarella and pizza dough. It wasn't her first choice to use a prepared dough, but she agreed after I expressed my resistance to stocking up on lots of baking ingredients in our summer house. After breaking up the dough into small mini rounds, she scored the tomatoes and blanched them to remove the skins. She proceeded to cut them up using her newly acquired knife skills and while she put the rolled out individual pizza dough and grilled them, I was her sous chef and cut up the arugula. She grilled the dough to perfection and then loaded on the arugula, diced tomatoes and shredded mozzarella. We heated in the oven until the cheese was melted and then had a feast! Sarah stayed for dinner and the three girls gobbled Gianna's pizza creations! I can't tell you how proud I am of her! So how appropriate that I'm rambling on about food, since here it is, another Foodie Friday. Today, I have cooked up a special feature on one of my favorite local Westhampton eateries, Margarita Grille. I'd love to hear feedback if you have ever eaten at this Mexican restaurant! Today is also very exciting for me because this evening I will be attending The Long Island International Film Expo's Opening Night Party in Bellmore. It's going to be a ladies' night out for me, my daughter Rebecca and my girlfriends Denise and Lisa as we hobnob with many of the individuals who have made this event happen, including the event organizers, the filmmakers and creative individuals whose works will be featured at this festival. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls. | It's our 2nd monthiversary! It's here! Friday is here again! And don't we all just luv Fridays?! It even has it's own acronym TGIF! And as for this Friday, it marks Travelin' Cousins 2nd monthiversary! Yay us! As for me I look forward to Fridays for the company that I get to share and spend time with (because during the week they are either busy working or busy with school). I also usually fill the weekends up with fun activities that we don't make the time for during the week. This week for instance: tonight is date-night with Dave, we are going to Elf Cafe in Los Angeles. We haven't been there in a few years, but as I recall they had one of the BEST Risottos ever! You know what I'll be ordering!! I may even choose this charming eatery for one of my future Foodie Fridays! Saturday is my sister Jet's birthday, and she is still up in the air as to what her plans are...so I'll just be ready to go and have fun, and hopefully that's what we'll do! We do have a commitment in the evening with a 5:30pm call time at one of the Disneyland Hotels for a conference that the kids will be performing for along with The International Peace Choir. And on Sunday, we are going back up to Los Angeles to finally see Murder & Madness at Greystone Mansion. And then on Monday when everybody else is going back to work, we'll be taking that big bird in the sky and flying 3,000 miles to NYC, and boy will we be busy over there! So glad that I am pretty much finished packing, I have a few odds and ends to toss in my bag. I managed to begin taking some pictures of the steps of my packing for the article that I'm going to write about "my method" packing by color coordination! As for today, I've a bit of running around to do, some stores that I've gotta run into, gotta get my nails fixed and take Cosette for a manicure, and then hopefully we'll have the time to go see the horses at the stables. Update on the horse trainer: she is doing much better and is not in the hospital any longer. She will still be out recovering for another week or two. We are so glad that she is okay and that Cosette will be able to get back to her lessons soon! I'll be sure to keep you posted on all the fun this weekend is gonna be packed with! And before I forget let's go work up an appetite and read all about Margarita Grille! Foodie Friday, yet another reason why Fridays are sooo awesome! Now go eat some yummy foods! Cheerio peeps, -T |
