Off to The All-Star Game!!
Well hello guys!
Yesterday was a L O N G day. And I am late to getting on here and blogging. UGH I had to go up to Santa Maria (which is not too far from San Luis Obispo and not too easy to get to and also takes quite a while to get out of). This was a rescheduled meeting from a couple of weeks ago that was a complete BUST and caused my day and next few days to go completely awry! And I hit sooooooo much LA traffic since it made no sense for me to leave earlier (enough to be ahead of traffic) because of the timing of the appointment - and the contact not being able to meet with me any earlier than 11am. Traffic was absolutely MISERABLE (and worse than usual - according to the GPS). Causing the estimated 4 hour in traffic drive to take me 5+ hours!!!
Of course the landscaped changed quite a bit when I was far from Los Angeles and away from the mess of congestion on the road.
Well it's been an interesting week thus far... On Monday I had to fly out to the oven that is Las Vegas, for the quickest visit ever. My time at the airport and in flight was literally longer than my time in Vegas!
It was a doozy! And the car I got into had a crazy temperature reading
Plans had me driving back home and while driving through Baker, CA where the World's Tallest Thermometer is located and that I have driver through countless times - the temperature was higher than I've ever seen it!!!
Tuesday was Michael (my brother's) birthday. Of which I was specifically told not to take any pictures. LOL
After several changes to our plans, we all met up for dinner for Taco Tuesday at Moreno's - a lovely and semi-historic restaurant in Orange, CA. The only item that they offer for vegans is Potato Tacos. While I am happy with the fact that they did have at least 1 item on menu that was suitable to vegans; I still asked the server (who was so sweet btw), if there was anything that they can do off menu for our vegan diet (there were 3 vegans at dinner), she had explained to us that her sister is also a vegan and that she has already approached the owner of the restaurant in hopes to add some additional vegan items to the menu and it fell completely on deaf ears. Basically came across to me that the owner had a very closed mind at the idea - which kinda sucks! Why have a closed mind to adding a few more vegetables to the menu? Anyhow, I am going to a baseball game tonight and have a ton of things that I'd like to do before the game. Tomorrow is Jet's bday and I'll be available to all the festivities. Then early on Saturday morning - 3AM - we will be heading to LAX (yuck) to fly out to the MLB All Star game and festivities in Arlington, TX and onward after that. I'm pretty much all packed, but today is my last day to prep for the trip and for all that I would like to accomplish. Signing off, until next time. Ciao 4 Now, -Travelin' Tanya |

Happy Tuesday! I think the holiday weekend threw my timing off because I can't seem to keep track of the days this week!
One thing I'm completely stoked about however, is Travelin' Cousins new affiliation with Viator!! I'm not sure if you can fully grasp the passion that Tanya and I have for sharing every last one of our adventures! Whether it's a new or favorite destination or an foodie experience that has us still craving what we ate long after dining, we always do our best to share the details necessary to inspire you to vicariously enjoy our adventures! Our goal, of course, the hope that our storytelling and photos will ultimately inspire you to enthusiastically venture on your own memory-making and inspirational endeavors. While we'd love to take many of you with us to share in our adventures, or minimally assist you with creating the perfect itinerary and wanderlust adventures, we wholeheartedly believe that providing instant access to exciting excursions and deals was a great next step for you, our followers!! And of course, it makes it so much easier to have you share in any of our ongoing travel and eating planning by linking such options for you so should ou wish to, you can book for yourself. ELISA'S MAINE ROAD TRIP IN THE PLANNING STAGES
As you know, I have two daughters, both of whom I love with all my heart. One of them, however, is much more into road trips and travel than the other. That would be my daughter Kelsey.
In fact, it is with Kelsey that I developed Walt Disney World Wednesdays here on Travelin' Cousins and with whom I create all of my travel itineraries. About a week ago, she and I were talking about possible trips that we could take in the future and she suggested we do a road trip from Long Island to Maine. Here is the basic route TO Maine:
Basic Roadtrip Route:
We discussed the idea of "when" and came up with some positives for why this would be a great trip to take in the summer... but, after chatting a bit further, we considered the idea of saving the full trip to Maine until the warm weather and instead, taking a partial trip up to Newport, Rhode Island around Christmastime! Now, we just have to lock into a specific time, and we were thinking that an ideal time might be during her semester break. Her semester ends December 20th so it's not unrealistic to think we can do a four day trip to Newport and be home in time for Christmas! We definitely need to do a bit more research and thinking, so I'll get back to you on this in future blogs!! On that note, I will leave you - see you over the weekend!! -Travelin' Elisa |
