Two Saturdays Left to ShopI woke up so happy to see the beautiful sunshine today here on Long Island. I'm sure you are aware that today is the second to last Saturday to shop for Christmas shopping. Most of my shopping this year was done online, but, there is always a few gifts that I need to buy in person. I'll be taking care of these last few presents at the mall this week. Alright, so back to my Christmas To Do's - Day 13: What to Get For Those Hard to Buy For Recipients. I know I'm not the only one who has people on my Christmas list that I struggle with each year trying to figure out what to give them. After years of dealing with this situation, and tired of getting yet another scarf or pair of slippers, I've come up with a list of possibilities, that I hope will help you! 1) Catalogs With Unique Items I have a few go-to retailers when I just don't know what to get. They have a unique variety of items that might just fill your needs: - Red Envelope (RedEnvelope.com) - Uncommon Goods (uncommongoods.com) - Brookstone (brookstone.com) 2) Show or Concert Tickets I have long been a proponent of show tickets as a gift. Not only is it generous, but it provides something to look forward to long after the holidays are over. Of course, you need to be sure that your gift doesn't conflict with your recipient's calendar schedule. 3) Pampering and Grooming Services This kind of gift is not just for ladies! Who doesn't love a relaxing massage? From facials, to manicures and pedicures, personal service gift certificates make a wonderful gift! 4) CD and Video Collections Today, it is possible to buy full collections of just about anything on video. From old and new television shows, concert events, movie trilogies and historic documentaries, these items provide hours of enjoyment and present beautifully. Here are a few online and traditional retailers: - Barnes and Noble (barnesandnoble.com) - CD Universe (cduniverse.com) - F.y.e (fye.com) 5) City Tours If you live near a big city, what would be more fun than getting tickets for a unique tour! NYC Tour companies, for example have everything from "Cupcake Tours," "Chocolate Tours," "Pizza Tours" and so much more! There's also night dinneer cruises around Liberty Island, which is a great way to spend an evening. Check the local tours and events in your home town for unusual gift ideas! - Great New York Tours (greatnewyorktours.com) - Ben's Bagel Tours (bensbageltours.com) I hope some of these ideas will help you with your own personal Christmas Shopping. Today is a pretty low-key day. Have to mail out my Christmas cards and get a manicure. Going to a party tonight with Denise and then we are going to join the hubbies for a late dinner at Spuntino's Wine Bar. Going to run out to get my nails done now! Have a FABULOUS Saturday!!! -E | Fun Filled Shopping SaturdayThis is the second to last weekend before Christmas, and I'm looking forward to some festive fun, along with some San Diego Sunshine and Seaport Village shopping! You might recall that the kids had a performance scheduled this evening - well as soon as I found out that this performance was cancelled, surprisingly along with Dominic's Saturday morning classes, I quickly moved things around so that I could make this great shopping day happen. Not only that, but now it is going to be a group event!! We are starting off the day... Heading to Laguna Hills, and going to breakfast at Mother's Market and Kitchen. We'll have a full car load for our full day of activities - Dave B, Dave C, Dominic, Cosette, and Meeee! Next up, our partial group will spend some time wandering the festive grounds of the Sawdust Festival's Winter Fantasy which will be decked out as a winter wonderland and offer the most unique holiday shopping in all of Southern California. There will be live holiday entertainment, demonstrations, a petting zoo, Santa and much much more! Amazing art gifts will be available, and thousands of holiday picture-perfect moments! Who knows...This may very well become a new family holiday tradition for us! By the time we wrap things up... Over there in Laguna, it'll be about time to meet up with the rest of our gang Jet, Andrew, and Chaplin (they wanted to get a later start and some more sleep), these guys will be following along and sharing in the fun for the rest of the day! First up is a visit to the beautiful San Diego coastal city of La Jolla, where our gang will picnic at the La Jolla Cove and then go over and observe the Harbor Seals that call the La Jolla Cove & Casa Beach their home, basking in the warm sun on the shore line! Such adorable little creatures & I know that my little Chaplin is going to adore seeing them and this visit will make a lasting impression and memory for her! After we leave La Jolla... We'll all be heading to downtown San Diego and do some fun shopping and sightseeing at the Seaport Village and the Historic Gaslamp District. And finally when we are finished shopping and I'm sure that we've worked up an appetite, we'll head over to Sipz Vegetarian Fusion Cafe for a late dinner before the nearly 2 hour drive back home! Meet me back here tomorrow for a full weekend recap, about Friday night's performance, all of today's fun, and everything that's planned for tomorrow, including Christmas Tree shopping and yet another performance!!! Time to go get my shopping on, -T |
