Happy Monday and the second week of August!

Hope you had a lovely weekend.  We had some fun on my end.  

While my dear cousin Tanya was enjoying herself on her Los Angeles Staycation, me and my girlies had a delightful day of equestrian activities. yesterday.

This year, we opted NOT to have the girls do any competitive horse shows, and instead, work on their riding skills.  However, that doesn't mean that several of their friends didn't decide to partake in the show circuit.

In fact, yesterday, we got our butts out of bed mighty early and headed out to Yaphank to cheer on and support fellow equestrians from the Dream Come True Farm riding team as they participated in

Very proud of the girls' barn mates and how well they did!!

Next year, it will be my girls who I'll be watching.

We also managed to find Gianna a new helmet, for which she was in desperate need.  Then a short visit to the barn after the show for Kelsey to ride for an hour.  She did amazing perfecting her lead changes!

On the way back home, we stopped at California Pizza Kitchen for lunch.  YUM. 

We each had a MOST DELICIOUS pizza each!!

All this horse talk got me to realize that The Hampton Classic 2016  is coming up in a few weeks. August 28nd to September 4th, to be exact.

The Hampton Classic is one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the United States and a premier destination for horse people.

Several of my daughters' friends will be riding in this prestigious event, so you can bet we'll be in attendance!

The Classic boasts some of the top jumper riders from all around the globe. Something to experience at least once!

​Today, we will be relaxing at home, as we begin a few days of riding again tomorrow and Wednesday.

Going to try to figure out our schedule for attending the Hampton Classic with some of the other girls and moms!

The Good, The Bad and
​The UGLY

Good Day Everyone!

So nice of you to join us.

I'm back home now after my little stay-cation at the Historic Landmark Sunset Tower Hotel in the City of Angels (Los Angeles).

We mostly had a GRAND stay, but to be completely honest with you (which I always am) this Glamorous Hotel definitely had it's share of issues that we experienced - ohhh LUCKY US.

So how about some Good, Bad and UGLY about the Sunset Tower Hotel?

Since I'm a positive type-o-gal, let's start with the good and I'll include some history while I'm at it:

Situated on the famed Sunset Strip and designed in 1929 by famed architect Leland A. Bryant, considered one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the Los Angeles area. ​

This legendary hotel has been a star magnet from the time it opened it's doors.

Originally The Sunset Tower Apartments, it has also been known as the St. James Club, The Argyle and now, once again, The Sunset Tower Hotel.

As an apartment building it was home to several Hollywood's legends such as - Greta Garbo, Clark Gable & Carole Lombard, Joan Crawford, Errol Flynn, Mae West, John Wayne, Bugsy Siegel, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and many more!

However, come the late 1960's once Sunset Boulevard became known as the center of hippie culture the tower began to lose it's "magic"...

Then by the early 1980's the building - although considered a historical landmark, there were no laws to prevent it's demolition.     It was set to be demolished and if not for Wemer Klemperer (who refused to move out), it would've been!
By the time he was evicted, laws to protect such architectural jewels had been enacted.

With major renovations and buy-outs over the next 3 decades, it eventually became what it is today - combining modern convenience  with old  world charm.

After checking out, we went for a lovely brunch back to Crossroads where I had my favorite Bloody Mary with all the fixin's and an amazing meal while sitting directly across from Mel B. (of Spice Girl fame and currently on America's Got Talent).

​Next up was sitting in a butt-load of traffic and heading back to the OC. Cosette had opted to come shopping with us and we needed to go to REI and Performance Bicycle for some supplies that were still needed for our upcoming Magical Anniversary Trip - only 8 days to go!!

The remainder of the day/night was spent going to Mother's Market, making and eating a big ol' Spaghetti dinner with the fam, and then heading back on out to go and see Jason Bourne.

Lots to do today, and plenty to catch up on.

Later I've got a board meeting to preside over while the kids are back at it with choir rehearsal.
